The real audience for a universal inbox is often not the specialist user.

It is the manager.

The budget holder.
The line manager.
The senior decision-maker.

They are not sitting in SAP all day. They are in meetings, on calls, in Teams chats, reviewing documents and making decisions.

So the question is not simply: “Where can they see all their work?”

The better question is: “How can the right work reach them at the right time?”

For busy managers, work can arrive as structured cards in Microsoft Teams, grouped by process or function, with the key context and actions available immediately.

This is especially useful for occasional approvers: budget holders, line managers and senior managers who do not spend all day inside SAP, BTP or other enterprise systems.

Building a universal inbox sounds simple.

Connect to a few APIs.
Show a table of tasks.
Let managers approve from one place.

In reality, the hard part is not the screen.

A true universal inbox needs connectors, polling, events, timestamps, user mapping, task normalisation, security, monitoring, error handling, write-back APIs and often a separate task cache.

That is a lot of infrastructure to create another place for managers to check.
