‘’My name is Eoin Costelloe. I am from Dublin, Ireland and have had diabetes for about 7-8 years. I was initially diagnosed, out of the blue, at the age of 19. Of course it was a major shock to the system and a huge disruption to my life at the time. But looking back, and now realising that if I was never diagnosed, I wouldn’t be doing half of what I’m doing if it wasn’t for my diabetes. I wouldn’t change a thing!
Controlling your diet and overall nutrition is possibly the greatest asset to your diabetes management. Over the years I have always adhered to a lower carb diet to ensure my blood sugars stay consistent as much as possible. ‘Carb counting’ and close monitoring of what I consume each day have been indispensable tools towards gaining control over my BG levels.
What has been relatively tricky, while living with diabetes, is eating out. When you visit a restaurant or bar etc you don’t necessarily know what exactly is in your food. It’s almost a guessing game to figure out how many units are required for the meal you’re about to eat.
This is where a system like E77 comes in to play and would be hugely beneficial for anyone living with diabetes or any other restrictive dietary condition. It takes the ‘guessing’ away from eating out and greatly lowers the risk of going through a high or low blood sugar. It simplifies the almost tedious process of ‘working out’ insulin administration doses and gives you the confidence needed to eat anywhere you want!’’
