Backend development is hard to learn when everything looks equally important.

That is why we published our Backend Developer Roadmap 2026.

In the article, we explain what backend developers usually do day to day, which technologies matter in 2026, and how the path from junior to senior can look on real projects.

It may surprise you to find:

→ Junior backend developers in the US usually start with salaries between $80K and $130K. Senior developers can earn over $300K. In Israel, senior roles can pay ₪650K or more per year, especially in cybersecurity, fintech, and SaaS.

→ In Israel, backend demand is now especially strong because many companies need engineers who can work with complex systems, infrastructure, security, and product logic.

→ AI is already part of backend work. Still, the fastest-growing developers are usually those who understand databases, APIs, architecture, and code behavior, rather than relying solely on generated answers.

→ One common mistake among beginners is trying to learn everything at once. The roadmap breaks the path into 6 steps, starting with one language, one project, and one real problem.

We also added comments from our backend engineers, based on what they see in real client projects.

If you are starting your backend career, hiring backend talent, or helping your team grow, this roadmap may be useful 🔗 https://mwdn.link/GETxxfo

Hiring costs more than just money. Founders also have to invest their time.

When that time goes into interviews, giving feedback, and onboarding, it can slow down product work and delivery.

In the full article, we explain where the time goes and what founders can do to manage it 👉 https://mwdn.link/cost-of-hiring

Sometimes you need to leave the office to see how the work can be done better.

This April, our recruitment team decided to combine business with pleasure and headed to Portugal for a week.

The goal was not team building in its classic way. It was time to sit down and rethink the operational things: sourcing, recruiting, client communication etc.

Did anything useful come out of it? Absolutely! The team returned from the workation not only full of energy and photos, but also with new ideas for effective work.
For a remote-first team, such gatherings are priceless.

Share your thoughts.
Do you think workations are worth it? Do they work for you?

🔥A new episode of “This or That” is live!🔥

This time we asked our HRD, Kateryna Seleznova, about her preferences in work & life. The answers will surprise you just as much as they surprised us.

If you are also a fan of very “structured, but flexible” responses - you are very welcome to look through the video and write your variants in the comments👇

+40% efficiency through outstaffing - what's behind the numbers?

Over the last 20 years, engineering teams have shifted from local hiring to global, remote-first partnerships.

In a new piece by Kharkiv IT Cluster, we shared how outstaffing transformed into long-term engineering collaboration at MWDN. And which trends will define the market in 2026 and beyond.

You can be a strong engineer and still struggle in outstaffing: not because of code, but because expectations are unclear and the model is misunderstood.

If you think outstaffing is “just working directly with a client,” you miss the actual game: alignment, communication, and reliability when nobody is managing you day to day.

We turned this into a short carousel for specialists who work (or will work) in outstaffing: your first mission onboarding, skill bars, mood danger zone, and multiplayer rules for working with a client team.

If you’re in outstaffing now or joining soon - it’s worth your attention!
And if you want to join projects, check open roles via the link in our bio.
