We have recently run a pilot case study in partnership with Professor Claire Surr, the and our Social Care partners Anglian Care on the power of our ELARA Dementia Care VR training.

The participants found the training more relevant and engaging as good or better than previous training for learning and they urged more in-depth training using VR.

And we are not surprised!

Is there a “perfect” time to be a founder?

On Monday, our CEO, was welcomed at the BAFTA Academy to join a panel to discuss his journey in particular “growing amidst crisis” as part of the Help to Grow Management Alumni Network and Small Business Charter event.

Help to Grow: Management is a government-funded leadership and management course designed exclusively for small firms in the UK to help support business performance, innovation and long-term growth. It is delivered by an incredible community of 50 UK business schools and this event was designed to congratulate the first cohort of businesses that have completed the programme.

Alongside Government ministers and inspiring business leaders, Sahar Hashemi OBE (Founder of Buy Women Built, Co-Founder of Coffee Republic and Skinny Candy) and Eleanor Shaw (Associate Principal, University of Strathclyde), Dami spoke on resilient leadership and adaptation in crisis.

The panel shared their entrepreneurial experience of growing their business and building resilience as a leader within our community of SME leaders from all over the UK.

Dami stressed that there is never a “perfect” time to be a founder: “with market conditions changing, founder resilience will always shine through adversities - this is how ideas become game changers”.

With an aim for 2025, the network’s goal is to have over 20,000 SME owners complete the course and be part of the Alumni Network.

A game-changing session!

Olivia Eastwood-Gray is one of the earliest advocates in our mission to transform workplace L&D.

So naturally, we had to invite her to our series of masterclasses!

On Friday, she visited our HQs to give our interns a masterclass they’ll surely remember. Olivia told us her journey from growing up in Hackney, playing sports and now working at the , inspiring our interns to never back down and follow their dreams.

Olivia - always ever a role model - has strong ties to where she is from and her sporting experience. Our interns, all residents, are eager to leave a mark like Olivia is, shooting for the stars with MOONHUB!

𝗟𝗲𝘁’𝘀 𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘁𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆!

In June 2021, the London Borough Of Hackney Council established the Commission to listen to our diverse communities to understand the barriers they face in accessing jobs in the digital tech economy and how we can work with local employers, educators and community groups to overcome the challenges.

The goal of the commission is to examine the challenges that are thwarting the widening participation and representation of diversity in digital tech careers.

Today, the Hackney Digital Tech D&I Commission launched the 𝘿𝙞𝙫𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙞𝙩𝙮 𝙞𝙣 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝: 𝘽𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝘽𝙖𝙧𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙧𝙨 at our home base in Plexal in HERE EAST. The launch featured a panel event with key players which included our CEO and founder Dami Hastrup was welcomed alongside Russ Shaw (CEO of Tech London Advocates & Global Tech Advocates), Bindi Karia (University of East London Board) and Andy Kemp (Generation).

The event paved the way for the young people of our community and local employers and educators to voice their concerns and solutions in our tech landscape.

As pioneers in our community, we will continue to work together to better our community and give more of what is lacking within the digital tech sector, that being representation and inclusion.

MOONHUB has recently partnered with the Hackney Council to open its universe to three young Hackney stars as part of our apprenticeship programme.

Alongside other local employers, educators and community groups, we will continue to push this in the right direction and will help to decrease the percentage of people that believe that their identity or background is a barrier to job opportunities in digital tech.

VR is a confidence booster 🚀

Learners are 275% more confident to apply the skills they learned after training in real-life scenarios. In particular, significant improvements in confidence were made when discussing sensitive topics in the workplace such as diversity and inclusion.
