We are excited to announce we will have Rolf Krahl - Co-chair of the RDA Persistent Identification of Instruments WG. Rolf is responsible for setting up and managing the institutional data repository and metadata catalog for Helmholtz Centre Berlin for Materials and Energy, and will be joining us to discuss persistent identifiers and their application to instruments.

This time we are introducing the five latest scientific discoveries made this past month:

1️⃣ A new study from the University of Copenhagen has demonstrated that Caribbean box jellyfish can learn at a much more complex level than ever imagined - despite only having one thousand nerve cells and no centralized brain 🪼

2️⃣ In a major breakthrough, scientists have built a tool to predict the odor profile of a molecule, just based on its structure. It can identify molecules that look different but smell the same, as well as molecules that look very similar but smell totally different 👃

3️⃣ Yale researchers have found in a new study that some themes are universally recognizable by people everywhere with one notable exception - love songs 🎶

4️⃣ Researchers at Yale University recently carried out a study aimed at calculating the energetic cost of this transfer of information between cells and molecular components 🔋

5️⃣ New research suggests that ultrasound may have potential in treating a group of harmful chemicals known as PFAS to eliminate them from contaminated groundwater 🧪
