This week we completed the migration of the Commodious Training website from Umbraco 13 to Umbraco 17.

It is the culmination of 18 months of work, starting with the migration of all custom backoffice functionality to Web Components using TypeScript, Vite and the UUI Library, then moving Nested Content to Block List, Grid Layout to Block Grid and RTE Macros to RTE Blocks.

Alongside that we have written a full suite of Playwright tests covering both the front-end and the backoffice, so future changes and deployments can be tested properly rather than by hand.

All of this was done on a busy e-commerce site with minimal impact on customers and on the admins working in the backoffice, keeping existing front-end functionality intact and continuing normal day-to-day support throughout.
