Did you know? There are only 6 months left until the UK's traditional landline network is switched off.

By January 2027, old analogue landlines will be replaced by digital phone services.

If you still use a traditional landline, here's what it means:

βœ… You'll need to move to a digital phone service
βœ… You can keep your existing number
βœ… You can usually keep using your current handset
βœ… It costs less than many people expect

Phonely makes the switch simple. Keep your existing phone with a simple adapter.
Plug in. Connect. Go.

Scammers have a summer playbook.

During the summer months, routines change. Family visits, school holidays, weekends away and more time spent outdoors can all make it easier to be caught off guard by an unexpected call.

The tactics scammers use are remarkably consistent:

🚩 They create urgency
"Your account has been compromised."

🚩 They claim authority
"I'm calling from your bank, energy provider or the police."

🚩 They discourage verification
"Don't hang up. Don't tell anyone. Act now."

The goal is to stop you taking a moment to think or check whether the call is genuine.

If you receive an unexpected call asking for personal information, money or access to your accounts:

βœ“ Hang up

βœ“ Find the organisation's official number yourself

βœ“ Call back using a trusted source

βœ“ Speak to a friend or family member before taking action

Remember: legitimate organisations will never pressure you into making immediate financial decisions over the phone.

Stay vigilant this summer.

Come on England. 🏴⚽

The World Cup is finally here, and for football fans, there's nothing quite like the excitement of a major tournament.

Unfortunately, scammers pay attention to big events too.

Major sporting tournaments often bring a rise in fake ticket sales, bogus competitions, and fraudulent offers as criminals look to take advantage of the increased demand and excitement surrounding the event.

A few signs of a ticket scam:
⚽ The seller asks for payment by bank transfer
⚽ The offer comes from an unofficial source
⚽ You're asked to share personal details to claim a prize
⚽ The tickets can't be verified through an official platform

Enjoy the football and stay safe. ⚽

Scammers are now using artificial intelligence to send millions of fake texts and make convincing calls that appear to come from trusted organisations such as banks, energy suppliers and phone providers.

Google has recently taken legal action against one major scam operation, but thousands of similar scams remain active.

A few ways to stay protected:

βœ“ Never click links in unexpected texts or emails
βœ“ Don't share passwords, PINs or one-time security codes
βœ“ Hang up and call the organisation back using a number from their official website
βœ“ Be cautious of messages creating urgency or pressure to act immediately
βœ“ Report suspicious texts by forwarding them to 7726 (free on UK networks)

If a call, text or email doesn't feel right, trust your instincts and verify before responding.

Share this post to help friends and family stay one step ahead of scammers.

Father's Day is coming up, and we need your help settling a debate...

What's the most "Dad" thing about your dad's relationship with technology?

A. Still has the same house phone from 2003

B. Refuses to use the mobile, prefers the landline

C. Has a notebook full of phone numbers "just in case"

D. Genuinely cannot work out how to switch the phone to speakerphone

Vote by commenting A, B, C or D below πŸ‘‡

(And if your dad has an even more classic tech habit, tell us in the comments!)

We're compiling the results for something fun next week ahead of Father's Day.

"So easy and helpful.

Recently changed the phone line provider from BT to Phonely for my elderly In-laws... Setting up the contract was straight forward and easy.

Having the app, which I can monitor, is also a big help towards ensuring my In-laws remain safe from potential scam callers." - Phonely customer, Trustpilot

That peace of mind is exactly why so many families switch to Phonely.

If someone in your family is still relying on an old landline and dealing with nuisance or scam calls, there is a better way.

Quick question: when did Dad last check his phone bill?

A standard BT line rental can cost over Β£25 a month, before call charges are added.

Phonely starts from just Β£9.97 a month, including 1,600 minutes to UK landlines and mobiles. Same phone. Same number. And if you pay annually, we'll include the adapter free.

That's over Β£180 a year back in Dad's pocket.
