Thank you to all my computer customers who have recommended me and used my services over the last 10 years.
As you may know , I repair audio / hifi and video equipment for a major retailer and this work means I have to decide on my focus into retirement
So I've decided to stop my mainstream computer work , clean ups , antivirus , email help and support and my old mate Mario D'addario has started an independent business to take on this work.
Mario has significantly more IT experience than me so you will be in safe hands.
If you are looking to buy new equipment, I can still help but will work with Mario to give you the support you need.

Apologies in advance for the lengthy post.
You're looking at the inside of a desktop computer I built in 2018. It was high-end at the time, and in fact, it still works beautifully in 2025. But with Windows 10 nearing end of support, it fails Microsoft's compatibility test for Windows 11, saying its hardware doesn't meet the requirements. 🤔 Seriously?
Not enough memory? Hah! Tons of that. Out of date processor? Nope. Why then?
Here's where the scandal comes in. This gets geeky, but stick with me. The detailed test results say it lacks something called a "Trusted Platform Module" - or TPM - which is a requirement for Windows 11's security system. I wasn't so sure that was truly the case, and a few well-honed Google searches revealed that my motherboard does indeed include a TPM - disabled by default. This, it turns out, is very common with systems from just a few years ago. In the computer world, "disabled" equals "not present", so the system fails the check! In my case, I had to get into the system setup (BIOS), find the setting for the TPM, and change it to "enabled". Restart, and now it's fully compatible!
This is the reason for the vast majority of fails for Win11 readiness. Is Microsoft telling anyone about this? Not that I've seen, and many people are buying new computers for a completely bogus reason. If your 3-6 year old computer failed the Windows 11 test, find yourself a capable geek, or if you're good with such things, Google your computer model and "TPM" and you may find instructions for doing what I did. I had two computers that initially failed, and now they both pass with no issues. No money spent. Just a few minutes time.

How to turn off Gemini AI on your android phone and go back to the old google assistant.

I use my phone in the car to navigate around between clients and
also for internet radio while on the move. It links to my bluetooth in the car for a completely hands free experience which is as it should be.

UNTIL !!!!!!! the people at google decided in their wisdom to shove out Gemini Ai and by default switch everyone over to that instead of google assistant.
So now when I say .."hey google navigate to burnham high street"... instead of a map apperaing and directions . I get a list of the shops in burnham high street ... all very interesting and that but definately not needed.. Pull over in the car , go into my maps program manually , set off again .. "hey google play greatest hits radio" ..... another list appears on the screen ...no music ... pull over again .. type it into google ... music plays ... and so on ...
Sorry Google ... your new "help" assistant is poo. I will not be using it for a least 6 months when you may have made it fit for purpose. Stop rolling out half tested code and using the publics feedback to sort it out.

Soooo... how to turn it off.

go into android settings ...
in the search box type " assistant "
scroll down past all settings
and in there you will see "digital assistants from google"
just click in there and sellect google assiatnt and all will be back to normal

Good luck

Common windows problems time !!
A lot of customers get hit with the splash screens that tell them the FBI is after you ... you must call us to clean your machine , YOU have broken the internet single handedly and if you dont click here right now ... well disaster awaits ...
Well it's all rubbish of course , but these pop up's do get in the way and stop you using the internet.

The first thing to do is to disconect your internet , either turn off wireless or unplug the ethernet cable depending on how you are connected
Then open up google chrome and click on the three dots on the top right of the screen.
Once the menu appears select settings at the bottom of the list

A new window will open with a list on the left of your screen .
there are two things to look at here.
First reset setings , this should clear all settings back to normal,
it won't affect your favourites but will clear out any sh!te thats collected in your browser.

The second thing to look at is extensions.
It's normal to have things on here that either you have chosen like an ad blocker etc .. sometime adobe acrobat and rapport for banking ... you can leave these , but if you have anything you think is suspect like super coupon collector or games helpers when you dont use it for games ! these can be deleted.
if in doubt contact me.

once the reset is done ... close down chrome , reconnect your internet and you should be pop up free .

incidentally ... if you've read down this far ... you may be interested in a extension I found usefull, it's called bye bye Ai . I got bored seeing ai suggestions everytime I did a googlesearch as they were nearly always useless.. If you search" bye bye ai " and install , it filters out all the ai summaries that are driving people crazy.

good luck !
