This week we had Steven join us at The Wix Guys for his work experience and, honestly, he's been brilliant.
We've had quite a few work experience students over the years and I'm always impressed by the quality of young people coming through. Steven was no exception. He got stuck into everything we threw at him, completed every task to a really high standard and has been an absolute pleasure to have in the office.
It's also been a bit of an eye-opener culturally! He may have picked up a few new swear words along the way but hopefully he also learnt a thing or two about web design, SEO and what agency life is really like.
We also discovered he's a seriously talented musician, so it only seemed right to send him off with a giant tub of Haribo, a new bass guitar strap and a card to say thank you. We've also told him the offer of a reference is there whenever he needs one and, once he's old enough, we'd love to have a chat about some paid work in the future.
If you've never taken on a work experience student before, I'd really encourage you to give it a go. Yes, I'm sure you'll get the odd challenging one, just like you do anywhere, but you might also come across someone like Steven. Investing a little time in young people can make a huge difference and who knows, you might just find a future member of your team.
