New Article: 8 Steps to Build Brand Awareness with Short Domains

Do you use branded domains?
In this article I explain how to set up a branded short domain to build brand awareness across your social networks.

http://iag.me/socialmedia/brand-awareness-short-domains/

If you aren't using a branded link on Twitter, you're missing a trick. Branded short urls are powerful because:

- They build brand awareness
- They allow you to track clicks across all your networks no matter which tool you use to post.

As well as showing you how to set one up, I also explain how to use your branded short domain with Buffer, Friends+Me, Sprout Social, TweetDeck and Edgar.

Unfortunately, you will struggle to get this working with Hootsuite unless you are willing to pay $588.88 per year. And even then, you can only use that branded short link working within Hootsuite and receive analytics on links posted from there.

So, if you don't already have a branded short domain are you willing to give it a go?

15 Experts Share their Worst Blogging Advice Ever

Ashley Faulkes does it again and has written another great "experts" post.

This time he asks What is the WORST blogging advice you have ever heard or read?..and more importantly he asks "WHY"!

There are some real gems in here, and it's great to hear from people who know their stuff. Let's face it, although some of us could be called experts in the field- we're all learning and we've all made mistakes. The more we can do to debunk and demystify the art of blogging the better!

So, have a read and you'll hear about the worst advice these great people have heard on blogging: Adam Connell, Brian Dean, Peg Fitzpatrick, Sarah Santacroce, Adrienne Smith, Kristi Hines, Brent Carnduff, Mike Allton, Rebekah Radice, Ron Sela, Ann Smarty, John Paul Aguiar and Pauline Cabrera. There is even this random person on there called Ian Anderson Gray, but I'd probably ignore what he has to say (note that is called British self deprecating humour!)

You’ve probably heard that saying about everyone having an opinion? Well, in the world of Pro Blogging, the opinions are flying around daily! And with so many experts out there telling us what to do, it is insanely confusing. Who should I listen to, and what is the “best” advice in the end? So I …

10 Browser Extensions You Won't be able to Live Without

http://iag.me/socialmedia/10-browser-extensions-you-wont-be-able-to-live-without/

After far too long, I've written a new article for my blog!

Are you addicted to browser extensions? I definitely am! Over the years, I’ve discovered some amazing extensions that enhance my productivity and effectiveness, and I thought it was time that I share them with you.

There are so many to discuss, but in this article I am going to discuss 10 which I think you will find very useful.

Can you live without them? Well, technically, yes- you will still live! However, they are going to make your online life easier and help turbo boost your productivity!

1. Friends+Me Chrome Extension. This is a brand new tool (it's just come out today). I was honoured to be part of the small beta testing team together with Mike Allton. I have to say, Alois Bělaška has produced a truly amazing tool here which integrates with the web app, Friends+Me. It enables you to share content as you browse the web. It works very similarly to Buffer and allows you to post content to Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Tumblr, app.net and Google+ posts. You can cross post selectively and it does so in an intelligent manner. See my article for more information.

2. MightyText an extension that integrates with your Android device (sorry, iOS users). It allows you to receive and send texts and calls via your phone through your browser. It has some other very cool features

3. Buffer - I think most people have heard of Buffer, so need I say more? A very easy to use extension that allows you to cross post content to your social media empire!

4. Riffle - Presents you with very detailed info on any Twitter user within the Twitter website. Really useful!

5. CircleCount shows you more information about a user including their ranking, number of 1s, reshares, location and interest tags

6. Evernote *Web Clipper* - sends a snapshot of an article to Evernote. Just...
