The Sophos State of Ransomware 2025 report has just been released, and the findings for UK infrastructure are a stark wake-up call. At DCP, weβre seeing these trends firsthand: ransomware is becoming more aggressive, more expensive, and harder to ignore.
ππ‘π ππ πππππ₯π’π§ππ¬:
>>70% of UK attacks resulted in data encryption - well above the 50% global average.
>>$5.37M is the new median ransom demand, more than double last yearβs figure.
>>103% of the demand is what UK firms are typically paying to get their data back.
>>$2.58M is the average cost of recovery excluding the ransom payment.
The real root cause: It isn't just a technical battle.
>>42% of UK organisations cited a lack of cyber security expertise as a primary reason for falling victim.
This expertise gap is putting unsustainable pressure on IT teams, leading to increased workloads and mental health stress.
The bottom line: "Hoping for the best" is no longer a strategy. Resilience requires proactive prevention, 24/7 detection, and a hardened infrastructure.
