Caerphilly Tariff Updates

The new tariff is live from Weds 29th July 2026

Your initial distance has changed and is now HALF a mile for £3.50

A previous 2 mile journey was £5.70 and the new 2 mile journey is £6.80

Updates will take place at Pant Glas Ind Est

Weds 29th - 8am to 8pm
Thurs 30th - 8am to 8pm
Fri 31st - 8am to 12pm

Due to holidays and availability i may consider an additional day in the following week

Cost £20 - Card, Cash and Bank Transfer accepted

Active Safety Systems and Mirror Meters

Lately Skoda have started adding technology to their vehicles to assist with monitoring the drivers attention to the road. ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) utilises sensors and cameras to make sure you are paying attention to the road and the vehicle and its also present on Toyota vehicles as well as other manufacturers.

Some of these systems utilise cameras and on the Skoda Superb this camera is mounted inside the rear view mirror.

This means that when a Mirror Meter is fitted to the vehicle a non-urgent warning appears stating Attention Monitor is unavailable as the camera is obscured.

This means that ADAS enabled or VW based vehicles with similar systems MAY not be able to have a mirror meter.

In future we will be asking you a number of key questions when we discuss the installation of a taximeter to ensure it is compatible with your vehicle.

Caerphilly Tariff Change

Note, nothing has yet been confirmed from the Council or DHM. This is provisional information, however at DHM we need time to prepare some manufacturers for updates.

So should the revised Caerphilly tariff meet with no rejections then it is anticipated licensing will make a decision at the end of next week (approx 24th July) and make a decision on a live date for sometime during the week commencing the 27th July 2026

It is therefore likely that DHM will be in Caerphilly during that week to assist with tariff updates.

The location this year is likely to be on Pantglas Industrial Estate for 2 or 3 days however this is all speculative.

Hi All,

When we are presented with 2nd hand or out of area Viking taximeters for installation we may need more information before a price and timescales can be confirmed.

RCT Policy Update

I've spoken with RCT Licensing this morning following a vehicle check they carried out last night.

They have decided that any fitted switch that could control the roof light is no longer allowed in a hackney carriage.

Your roof light should operate directly from the meter with no additional switches.

Tomorrow (Monday 29th June) marks the first double certificate day.

Covering Bridgend and Cardiff, if you need a taximeter certificate you can attend at the following times and locations to get yours

Monday 29th June 2026

Bridgend - 9.30am to 11.30am near FRF Toyota, Wildmilll/Trews Field Ind Estate (certificates valid for 1 month)

Cardiff - 12.30pm to 2.30pm at Taff Embankment (certificates valid for 11 months)

The next date is July 20th 2026, note that the Cardiff location may change in future due to parking restrictions, always check the website for the most up to date info
