B81 Designs I’m Bhavini, a Milton Keynes-based freelance graphic designer, coffee fiend and colour obsessive.

I know all the rules, but I also know how to break them to create striking and impactful design. I love working with clients of all shapes and sizes, from the likes of Barclaycard and British Gas to business-to-business start-ups, and it’s awesome that freelancing allows me to do both. Although I mainly work with organisations in Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Northamptonshire, I’ve done work f

or clients across the world, from Australia to America. So if you like what I do, no matter where you are based, I’d love to hear from you.

Combining 20+ years of social justice expertise with a brilliant personal story.

I loved working on the new brand identity for Loaftin Research & Consultancy! They’re a social enterprise led by two internationally recognised criminologists, Prof. Zoë James PhD and Dr. Katie McBride.

Loaftin does amazing work in the public sector where trust and authority are everything, helping to create environments where diversity is celebrated and inclusivity is the norm.

The big challenge here was creating a visual identity that feels highly credible to policymakers, but still stays warm, human, and deeply personal. It also needed to sit well alongside the University of Plymouth branding, as they support Loaftin’s vital work!

A little design secret... if you look closely at the letters, the curved roof shape of a campervan is cut directly out of the letters. On the surface it’s a professional mark, but it’s also a quiet nod to Zoë and Katie’s shared love for campervans - loaf tin being slang for a VW Transporter.

It’s the perfect little detail that rewards those in the know and makes the brand feel genuinely personal.

All Flows 2026…huge thanks to and for yet another incredible event! Spent a few days surrounded by lovely humans full of endless energy! So good to meet new people and catch up with people I hadn’t seen for a while , , , ,

And of course a huge thank you to the amazing team of volunteers that I got to work with this year!! Can’t wait for 2027 🎉

A few weeks ago, I got a maybe/maybe not email in response to my application for a speaking summit.

Well the speakers for this particular summit were announced this morning (no my name’s not on the list) so I’m taking that as my opportunity to claim the sticker.

And honestly, it feels quite freeing. I’m ok with the rejection because I tried. And also because I was very excited about adding a sticker to my chart.

One door closes, one sticker goes on.

I lent our daughter a copy of my book. 30 minutes later, it came back with a major upgrade. I mean look how sparkly and cool it looks!

You can’t walk into a room in our house right now without finding a stray gem on the floor. This is all thanks to our almost 13 year old, Amaya, and her current obsession with bedazzling.

She’s even started her own bedazzling business, taking orders from school friends and turning ordinary items into these sparkling masterpieces.

When she asked to borrow my book, I didn't realise it was being given a glow up! I also didn't realise that I was going to be asked to design a logo for her in return!

No business lessons or side hustle tips here, just a proud mum of a girl with a vision (and a tonne of glue).

I worked with Paula at Sickle Cell Society on their latest impact report. As the only national charity in the UK supporting people affected by sickle cell disorder, it was incredibly important to communicate the full scale of the work they do.

This report is about more than just data; it’s a vital document that shares the real-world difference the Society makes. The goal was to move beyond the numbers and create a design that reflects the warmth, strength, and community spirit behind their mission.

By using photography and accessible layouts, we were able to celebrate the people driving change and the community at the heart of the charity. The final design balances clear outcomes with the personal stories behind them; professional, human, and full of purpose.

New year...same me. Back to work today after a fab few weeks off; a few weeks that were made better by the fact that Steve Harrington didn't die, and I had a lot of pistachio tiramisu to get through!

Started the first working week of by 2026 by listening to the podcast I recorded with Leila about goal setting and going for a walk, with a detour to go say hi to Tikka.

My adult inset days last week were hijacked by the girls being home from school for an extra few days thanks to a heating system breakdown, so getting in some time for self care today was top priority!

January's looking like a really good blend of getting back into the rhythm of work and making time for things that bring me joy. It wasn't the 'perfect' return to work, but pivoting and getting through an extra few days of school holidays thanks, means I'm definitely ready for any Q1 challenges.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go and remind myself how to use InDesign!

PS. If you were sitting down to watch Stranger Things with me, what's the one snack you'd bring besides tiramisu?

PPS. Booking design work in from mid Feb onwards, let's talk!

What. A. Year.

2025 delivered some serious firsts…and plenty of moments that pushed me way out of my comfort zone (it turns out that’s where the good stuff happens, who knew?!?).

So, in the spirit of celebrating wins (big & small), I’m claiming a few bragging rights because apparently, that’s allowed!

✨ First-ever speaking gig at DIFTK.

✨ Volunteering with the All Flows team.

✨ Investing in myself through a 12-week coaching programme.

✨ Joining the WBL mentoring programme.

✨ Speaking on stage again — this time with Sarah Willingham and two brilliant women I was proud to share the stage with.

✨ Travelling to Barcelona, Devon, Paris, Dubai... and Paris again (because once honestly isn’t enough).

✨ Starting (and currently failing, but still trying) the rejection challenge.

✨ Being a guest on a few podcast interviews.

✨ Practising visualisation and gratitude; both new to me, but game-changers.

✨ And drinking plenty of very good coffees to keep it all going!!

And I cant forget all the brilliant design projects I’ve worked on this year!!

Now, if anyone needs me you’ll find me where the pistachio tiramisu is!! And also probably trying to stop these two chewing the Christmas tree!!

Half term’s here… and I’m absolutely not ready for it.

If this morning’s anything to go by, we’re in for a week of organised chaos.

Started the day taking Amaya for a blood test (all good, but my hand’s still recovering from all the squeezing!). Then I stopped by reception to ask about Reeya's test results…it wasn't until the receptionist said she couldn't find Reeya's info, that I realised I’d very confidently given her the wrong date of birth. Managed to mix up both my girls’ DOBs. Oops.

And it’s only Monday! I get the feeling this week will be a wild mix of multitasking, memory blanks, and more teenage eye rolls (with added sass) than I’d like to count.

To everyone else also navigating half term, may your coffee be strong, your humour stay intact… and your slip-ups remain our little secret (Reeya included).
