🚨 Online Scam Alert 🚨
I’ve recently seen a worrying increase in customers almost caught out by very convincing fake ads. Thankfully, everyone I've dealt with spotted the trap in time, and brought their devices to me to check for malicious software.
⚠️ Common tricks to watch out for include:-
🔍 Fake tech support numbers in Google ads: scammers pose as big brands and persuade you to install remote access software.
Once connected, they can:-
• Threaten to report you to the authorities for supposed “illegal content” unless you pay them.
• Take large payments for fake “support”.
• Steal your card details or wait until you log into online banking so they can drain your account.
💻 Pop-ups saying “You have a virus – call now”: these also push you into installing remote access software, with the same risks as above.
💷 Fake investment ads on Facebook: often using government logos, then moving victims onto WhatsApp to gain trust and persuade them to hand over money.
👉 Always use official websites for contact details.
👉 Be very wary if asked to install remote access software.
👉 Be cautious of “too good to be true” investments.
If you’re unsure, hang up and speak to a trusted friend or relative. Or call me so I can advise if what's happening is legitimate.
These scams can be so convincing - please be aware! 🛡️💻
