📸 A VERY RARE PIECE OF OLYMPUS HISTORY

Every now and then, something really special comes through our doors…

We’ve just got our hands on an Olympus M-1 — the camera that came before the legendary OM-1.

Designed by Yoshihisa Maitani as an exceptionally compact, lightweight, and quiet mechanical 35mm SLR

Originally launched in 1972, the M-1 was very quickly renamed the OM-1 following objections from Leica over the use of the “M-1” name. At the same time, Olympus changed the name of the entire M-System to OM-System.

And this one gets even better…

It’s paired with the original 50mm lens bearing the “M-System” designation, rather than the later OM-System branding. The M-System lenses and accessories from this incredibly short-lived period are particularly sought after by collectors.

So you're looking at a camera and lens combination from a tiny window in Olympus history — before the name changed forever.

A genuine piece of photographic history, and certainly not something we see every day.

Had a fantastic day at the farne islands with and Sony Sony | Alpha Europe
Photographing the tens of thousands of puffins.

Really great to try the new A7r vi. Astounding bit of kit, the 66mp sensor made cropping a dream so for some great close up shots. And the 30fps continuous shooting meant I missed nothing!

Plus the AI auto focus is on another level. Picked up on the birds eye and never missed a beat!!

Then to top it off I was shooting with the 300mm f2.8.

Great trip with some great people. Thanks for the invite!

While im stuck injured on the sidelines 😭 thought i would try my hand at shooting a hockey game on sunday.

Used the Z9 with the S 70-200mm f2.8. The speed and focus system on the Z9 is so good when it comes to sports. Shooting at 20fps while using the eye detect auto focus meant for some really sharp shots.

Was really great to put the nikon kit through its paces with a high action sport thats difficult to capture. Would still rather be playing though 😭🙈

Released in 1998, this 28 year old bad boy boasted 0.8 megapixels and a 14x zoom lens. A max resolution of 1024x768 pixels! All recorded to a 1.44mb floppy disk

That's a wrap on The Photography Show 2026!

What an incredibly busy four days, and we have loved every minute of it. Thank you to everyone who visited the LCE stand. From first-time camera and drone buyers to those trading in for an upgrade, we appreciate your support. It was fantastic to see so many familiar faces and to celebrate our LCE Photographer of the Year winners too. Stay tuned as we bring you more from the show over the next week.

Earlier this week we had some sad news... one of our regular customers and store friend derek davison passed away. He shopped with us for many many years and was always a joy to speak to. Had some great laughs

He was well respected motocross photographer across the UK and did an awful lot for that community especially in the north east.

RIP Derek 'deka' Davison
