What an inspiring visit to Surrey NanoSystems in for a Space South Central event!

This was the first time the cluster has held a meeting at a member’s manufacturing site, and Surrey NanoSystems did not disappoint. They’re the team behind Vantablack – the famous “blackest of black” coating used on satellites to absorb stray light and help capture incredibly precise data from space.

As well as hearing about how Vantablack is developed and used across the space sector, we also enjoyed a tour of the manufacturing facilities and cleanrooms, getting a rare look at the processes behind these cutting‑edge materials.

A big thank you to Surrey NanoSystems for hosting and to Space South Central in Portsmouth for bringing our regional space community together in such a unique setting.
