☀️ Another hot week is on the way, and while we're all looking for ways to stay cool, don't forget about your computer! 💻

Every summer I see an increase in computers struggling with the heat. Dust build-up inside desktops and laptops can restrict airflow, causing systems to run hotter, louder, and slower than they should.

🐾 Meet the other half of the Icon Computing call-out team... Ozzy! 🐾

While I'm busy fixing computers, troubleshooting networks, and helping customers, Ozzy usually takes care of the important jobs:

✅ Greeting customers ✅ Making new friends ✅ Requesting cuddles ✅ Supervising from the floor ✅ Occasionally sleeping on duty

Jokes aside, I'm incredibly proud of how calm and friendly Ozzy is when meeting customers. Whether it's a home visit or a business call-out, he always seems to make people smile.

He may spend most of the job lying down, but he's definitely part of the team. ❤️

Final phase complete at Circle Newport 🎉

After several months of planning and installation, the network and security upgrade at Circle Newport is now fully complete.

This project involved a full overhaul of the venue’s wired and wireless infrastructure, alongside new indoor and outdoor CCTV coverage to improve security throughout the building.

The system now includes:

• Structured network cabling across the venue
• High-performance Ubiquiti UniFi networking equipment
• Reliable WiFi coverage throughout the building
• Separate staff and guest networks, both fully configured and running smoothly
• Multiple Ubiquiti security cameras installed indoors and outside
• A clean, organised network layout ready for future expansion

One of the final touches was installing the outdoor wireless equipment, allowing the venue to extend WiFi outside — perfect for summer rooftop events and outdoor seating.

The entire system is also remotely managed, allowing quick maintenance, updates, and changes if needed without disrupting the venue.

Projects like this are always rewarding — transforming older infrastructure into a modern, reliable network that staff and customers can depend on every day.

This is exactly the kind of large networking and security installation I love working on.

Phase 3: Activated 🚀

We’re making huge progress at Circle by Urban Circle in Newport. What started as a network overhaul has evolved into a full venue-wide transformation.

We are currently deploying a comprehensive Ubiquiti ecosystem, including:

👁️ Security: Multiple U5 Turret Ultra cameras for crystal-clear CCTV.
📶 Connectivity: U7 Lite Access Points for high-performance WiFi.
⚙️ The Backbone: A robust stack featuring the UDM Pro, USW Pro Max 16 PoE, and USW Flex switches.
🔌 Infrastructure: Extensive new structured cabling throughout.

On a personal note, this building used to be Meze Lounge—a regular spot for me back in my uni days! It’s been genuinely special to return under the Icon Computing banner to help modernize the space for the next generation.

I love multi-phase projects like this: large-scale installs, clean infrastructure, and future-proofed networks.

Phase 3 is underway, with the second floor up next. Let’s get to work. 👷‍♂️💪
