"Listening and partnership, without question."

When we asked John Featherstone, co-founder of Lightswitch, how he would describe The Robe Difference, his answer was immediate.

What struck us was how naturally it reflected everything else we had discussed. Throughout the conversation, John spoke about collaboration, trust, listening and creating an environment where good ideas can come from anywhere.

So perhaps it was no surprise that when asked to sum up The Robe Difference, it came back to people.

Those values have always sat at the heart of the Robe philosophy, which is why John's words resonated so strongly with us.

Many thanks to John for sharing his time, experience and perspective.

There are certain topics that keep coming up when we speak to lighting designers, DoP’s and gaffers.

Colour is one of them.

For Andy Lowe, it was the colour rendering.
"The colour rendering stood out immediately because you don't always expect that level of quality from a moving light."
For Harlon Haveland, it was trust.

"Honestly, the iFORTE LTX is one of the only moving lights I trust for skin tones."
Tim Routledge summed it up rather nicely:

"It's about lighting people beautifully."

When you're lighting people, colour accuracy is essential.

That's why Robe continues to invest in delivering the consistency, quality and reliability that lighting professionals need on set and on screen.

With a CRI of 96+ at 6000K and Robe's HCF Transferable Engine technology, the iFORTE LTX is designed to deliver accurate, consistent colour wherever it's used.

If you would like to see the iForte LTX in action Andrew Woodfrin would be delighted to arrange a demo, just drop us a message and we can get it set up.

"It stood out immediately because you don’t always expect that level of quality from a moving light."

High praise from Andy Lowe when discussing his work on Apple's Silo.

One of the stories that stayed with us was a sequence involving mirrors opening and daylight entering the silo. The brief sounds simple enough, but it needed clean, natural-looking light, sweeping movement and serious output to make it work.

The iForte LTX was one of the fixtures used to create the effect.

What makes the story particularly interesting is that the movement wasn't originally intended to be seen on camera. Once the director saw it, it became part of the visual language of the sequence and even helped inform the VFX work that followed.

It's a great example of something Andy touched on throughout our conversation: sometimes the best lighting moments aren't the ones you plan for. They're the ones that happen when the right creative idea, the right people and the right tools come together at the right time.

Many thanks to Andy for sharing his experience and insight with us.

A huge congratulations to James Levy on winning the Student Virtual Lighting Design Award at last week's Profile Awards. 👏

A student at Guildhall and an active member of the NRG community, James impressed the judges with a stunning three-minute virtual lighting design created within a detailed Royal Albert Hall model. Combining lighting, staging, atmospherics and effects, his entry showcased both technical skill and creative flair, earning him the competition's top prize.

We first met James when he joined Robe’s creative team at last year's TPi Awards, giving him an exclusive invitation to visit Robe HQ in the Czech Republic. He was then successful securing a unique work experience opportunity to join lighting director David Bishop’s Strictly Come Dancing crew at Blackpool’s iconic Tower Ballroom for the whole week!

While we're proud to have been part of James' lighting journey through NRG, this achievement is a reflection of his own creativity, talent and hard work.

Congratulations James - a thoroughly deserved award, and we look forward to seeing what comes next.

"The MegaPointe has become a go-to fixture for a lot of people because it covers so much ground in a rig without needing to compromise.

At this point, almost everybody in the industry has probably used one somewhere over the last five years. Festivals, touring, TV, live events - they ended up everywhere because they are versatile, reliable and easy to make work in almost any show environment.

That’s a big part of why the fixture is so globally successful.

Beam looks, aerials, texture, gobo work, wider looks… once people started using them properly, they kept finding more uses for them.

The GigaPointe is built from the same thinking.

Same Pointe-style workflow and flexibility, but now with a white phosphor laser source, IP65 rating, tighter optics and less heat and power draw in the rig. And because the form factor and behaviour are still familiar, it is show-swappable rather than like learning a completely different fixture.

You can see why so many people are specifying it.

If you haven’t seen one yet, it’s worth getting a demo in.

A huge thank you to Harlon Haveland for making time on set to share two recent projects and the thinking behind how he used the Robe iForteLTX to create natural-looking light in very different environments.

As Harlon puts it:
"You wouldn’t know you were in a studio with artificial lighting, it’s so subtle and beautiful."

In this video, Harlon explains how he used moving lights to create convincing sunlight in the studio and moonlight on location, while showing how he approached two very different lighting challenges.

☀️ Project 1: Sunlight in the studio
Working on an apartment set, Harlon used iForteLTX fixtures mounted outside seven windows to create natural, shifting daylight. The position, quality and colour of the light could be adjusted quickly, making it easy to move between different daylight looks at the touch of a button.

🌙 Project 2: Moonlight on location
Filming on a secluded beach in the Algarve, Harlon used two iForteLTX fixtures to create a natural moonlight effect. One fixture provided a broad wash of moonlight across the beach, while the second illuminated the cliff face behind, helping to create a more believable and natural scene.

As Harlon explains, this is something that traditionally wasn't possible with moving lights.

The iForteLTX combines long-throw performance with fully tuneable white light from 2,700K to 10,000K, green/magenta adjustment, accurate colour fidelity and full motion control, giving filmmakers not only another creative option when shaping naturalistic light but the ability to do it instantly

Watch the video to hear Harlon talk through both projects and see the results for yourself.

And if you'd like to see the iForteLTX in action, get in touch and we will be happy to arrange a demo with Andrew Woodfin.

Thanks again to Harlon for sharing his work and giving us a glimpse into his process.

That’s a wrap on .

What an amazing few days, the kind that remind you what this industry is really about. Great people, shared ideas, and that constant drive to keep pushing what’s possible on stage.

A real highlight for us was seeing our T3 Profile with ProFrost named ABTT Lighting Product of the Year. A proud moment for all of us, and for everyone who’s supported it along the way.

Across the show we shared a range of Robe tech, from the T3 Profile and T10 through to RoboSpot and iFORTE LTX, alongside solutions from the wider Robe Group - Avolites, Anolis, Artistic Licence and LSC.

But more than anything, it was the conversations in between, and time spent with the people who make this industry what it is.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by.
