The Norfolk Game Developers’ group was founded in August 2012 to connect people in Norfolk who work in, or are interested in the videogame development industry. We now have nearly 300 members including programmers, game designers, composers, graphic artists, and producers. Our members have a wide variety of backgrounds and experience – from casual and hobbyist developers keen to program games in t
heir spare time to full-time students of game design and professionals with an established portfolio of AAA published games for consoles, computers, and mobile phones. On this page, you can find details of some of the games being created by our members as well as upcoming gaming events that the group is organising. The group was started with the intention of being both for professional and social purposes; we host evening seminars and workshop-style sessions on various aspects of game development, as well as regular social meetups in which members share ideas and development of their latest projects. Membership of the group, and attendance at all our events, is free and open to all, whatever your level of experience. If you're a game developer in Norfolk and would like to join the group, please see our Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/655938241125289, or our meetup page: http://www.meetup.com/NorfolkIndieGameDevelopers
In October 2013, the group hosted the Norwich Game Expo as part of the Norwich Sound+Vision Conference. This 2-day event, the first of its kind to be held in Norwich, attracted game developers from across the country to take part in conference sessions and a public game exhibition. For the last two years, we have organised and hosted the annual Norwich Gaming Festival in partnership with The Forum, Norwich.
