Preparation is the part everyone thinks they’ll skip and then wishes they hadn’t 😬

Hardware bring-up is part science, part detective work, part discipline.

✅ Done well, it sets your entire product development up for success 🙂
❌ Done poorly, it leads to burnt prototypes, misdiagnosed issues, firmware delays, and unnecessary board spins 😵‍💫

With the right preparation, a systematic approach and careful testing, bring-up becomes a structured, predictable process.

We've put together a practical guide on preparing boards.

Definitely a TREAT and not a trick from Jason, one of our ingenious engineers 🎃

Having gone so cashless he doesn't have a pound for a trolley, Jason says, "Nae bother, I have a machine that makes plastic things. A Google search, STL download, and ten minute print later - a trolley token that I'll be sure not to spend. I'm just chuffed it actually worked and I didn't have to lug around all my shopping like buckaroo!" 🐎

We catch up with Fred Dally, creator of the YouTube channel ElectrArc240 - which has bloomed in recent years, taking him to over 130,000 subscribers! Not bad for a university student's side hustle! 🎓

Fred says he can’t exactly pinpoint when his passion for electronics started, but a piece of paper dating back to his childhood states his Name: Fred, his Age: 7, and Interests: Electricity, so it’s fair to say he was a young enthusiast💡

He reflects on his educational journey, comparing university education with industry experience gained during placements at companies like Red Bull and Mercedes and also shares his thoughts on AI in engineering, his concerns about its impact on creative fields, and his advice for aspiring YouTubers and electronics enthusiasts.

⚡⚡This is an episode for anyone thinking about a career in electronics – or how to get their own YouTube channel off the ground ⚡⚡

Should manufacturers make parts more accessible to repair? 🛠️

The man himself, Mend it Mark says part of product design should mandate that sort of behaviour.

When manufacturer’s design a product that allows for repairing, it sends a good message. But it can come at a cost which is why a lot don’t do it.

What do you think? Should manufacturers make parts more accessible to repair?

Should you say please and thank you to AI? 🤖

Ignys CEO and Founder, Richard Fletcher explains the two schools of thought on whether you should be “nice” and say please and thank you to AI…

1. YES - If you're nice to the robots, they won't harm you in the future.
2. NO - If you say please and thank you, you're showing your processing capability which robots may come to see as a threat.
