🚨 Microsoft Patch Tuesday
Microsoft’s August 2026 Patch Tuesday addressed 400 security vulnerabilities across its products, including critical issues and a Windows flaw that was already being actively exploited.

🌐 Cisco Secure Workload Vulnerabilities
Cisco has released security updates for several vulnerabilities affecting its Secure Workload technology, including flaws with the maximum CVSS severity score of 10.0.

🏥 CareCloud Data Breach
Healthcare technology company CareCloud has disclosed a data breach affecting more than 3.3 million people, involving sensitive information linked to its healthcare and practice-management services.

The solar eclipse is almost upon us! However, there are a few precautions you should consider.

👁️ Firstly - protect your eyes! Never look directly at the sun without proper solar glasses.

☀️ Secondly, pointing a camera directly at the Sun without the correct solar filter can damage the camera’s sensor and other internal components.

A camera lens concentrates sunlight onto a very small area, and that intense heat can cause permanent damage surprisingly quickly.

📸 If you’re taking photos of the eclipse:

📱 Don’t assume your phone camera is immune
☀️ Don’t point your phone or camera directly at the Sun without a proper solar filter (or use your solar glasses!)
🔭 Make sure the filter is designed specifically for solar photography
👀 Never look through an optical viewfinder at the Sun

We’ve all heard it from IT: “Have you tried rebooting?”

But are you actually rebooting or just turning it off and on again?

Shut Down doesn’t completely clear your system’s memory. Thanks to Fast Startup, Windows saves a partial state so it can boot faster meaning some issues stay.

Restart/Reboot fully clears the system memory, reloads the operating system, and restarts all services from scratch. It also fixes minor software glitches, applies pending updates correctly and frees up memory leaks and stuck processes.
Sometimes the simplest fix is the most powerful one.

💻 This week in tech: security, connectivity and digital privacy

New research suggests that around one in five business PCs is still running Windows 10, despite standard support ending in October 2025. For organisations that have not yet upgraded, older devices could create growing security, compatibility and compliance concerns.

Elsewhere, VodafoneThree has warned that rising energy costs, planning delays and regulatory pressures are affecting investment in the UK’s mobile infrastructure. Reliable connectivity is now essential for businesses using cloud services, remote working and VoIP.

The UK Government has also reportedly decided against restricting VPN services. While VPNs can be used to bypass online age checks, they are also an important security tool for businesses, remote workers and travellers.
