Dust, Steam, Process Emissions & Heavy Machinery

Industrial environments such as quarrying, timber processing, repair workshops, manufacturing lines and foundry operations all present conditions that make traditional fire detection unreliable. Flammable chemicals and legitimate process‑generated smoke or steam can obscure sensors, delay smoke travel or trigger false activations. High ceilings, open‑sided structures and heavy equipment add further challenges.

Industrial environments such as quarrying, timber processing, repair workshops, manufacturing lines and foundry operations present conditions that challenge conventional fire detection. Dust, smoke, steam, high temperatures and demanding operating conditions can reduce system performance and increase nuisance alarms.
Video Flame Detection offers a more immediate and resilient approach.

By analysing flame behaviour visually, supported by dual lens technology, Ciqurix: Video Fire Detection can detect the earliest signs of fire quickly and at long range, even when visibility is poor or traditional detectors are compromised. This real‑time analysis supports faster alerts and reduces the risk of escalation. What's more, live images can be viewed remotely by a monitoring station, allowing incidents to be verified quickly and reported to the local fire and rescue service, helping to accelerate the emergency response.

Supported by LPS 1976 approval, Ciqurix strengthens fire protection strategies across complex industrial operations where environmental conditions are rarely stable.

High Airflow, Dense Storage & Access Issues

Storage and distribution centres bring together a mix of conditions that make traditional fire detection inherently difficult. Cold and frozen storage, FMCG and grocery operations, high bay racking, long term and bonded warehousing, automated systems and 3PL logistics all share a common challenge: large quantities of closely packed goods that can rapidly fuel and spread a fire.

These environments often contain flammable products, dense storage and high-bay racking that challenge conventional fire detection, making installation, maintenance and reliable early detection increasingly difficult. In some cases, traditional detection can even become counter-productive, triggering nuisance alarms or failing to respond quickly enough.

Video Flame Detection provides a more direct pathway to early identification.

Ciqurix detects flame visually, enabling rapid response even when smoke stratifies, disperses or fails to reach ceiling‑mounted sensors in acceptable time. This makes VFD particularly suited to automated warehouses, fulfilment centres and large distribution hubs where rapid detection is critical to protecting people, assets and operations.

What's more, live images can be viewed remotely by a monitoring station, allowing incidents to be verified quickly and reported to the local fire and rescue service, helping to accelerate the emergency response.

With LPS 1976 approval and BS 5839‑1 compliant system design, Ciqurix supports robust fire strategies in environments where traditional detection is inherently disadvantaged.

Dust, Debris & Constant Movement

Waste and recycling facilities present a uniquely hostile environment for traditional fire detection. Airborne particulates, continuous processing activity, and frequent vehicle and material movement create conditions that challenge conventional smoke detection, leading to sensor contamination, delayed detection and nuisance alarms.

Video Flame Detection avoids these limitations.

By analysing flame behaviour visually, Ciqurix maintains reliable detection even where smoke disperses unpredictably and airborne contaminants are ever present. The system does not rely on particulate‑based triggers, making it inherently more stable in environments where airborne contamination is unavoidable.

This positions compliant VFD as a highly effective option for waste processing sites, recycling centres and MRFs where operational continuity and early detection are critical.

With LPCB accreditation to LPS 1976 and BS 5839‑1 compliant system architecture, Ciqurix extends reliable fire detection into environments long considered problematic.

Where Traditional Detection Struggles - Moisture and Humidity

Most people don’t associate moisture with fire. Moisture and condensation creates challenges for fire detection systems.

High humidity environments, wash-down areas and facilities exposed to weather can affect sensor reliability and increase maintenance requirements.

Video Flame Detection does not face these same challenges.

Because Ciqurix: Video Fire Detection identifies flame behaviour visually, it avoids many of the reliability issues associated with moisture affected detection technologies.

This makes compliant VFD particularly useful in environments where condensation, humidity or wet conditions are present.

Combined with LPCB accreditation to LPS 1976 and BS 5839-1 compliant system architecture, Ciqurix is helping expand the range of environments where reliable fire detection can be achieved.

CPD Training Delivered to Videcon’s Sales Team This Week

A big thank you to Videcon for hosting us this week and for making Steve and Matt feel so welcome while delivering two focused training sessions to their sales team.

Steve covered:
*CPD: Understanding LPS 1976 - the standard behind compliant Video Flame Detection
*VFD Overview & Applications - equipping the team with the knowledge to stay at the forefront of compliant VFD

These sessions explored where traditional fire detection technologies struggle in challenging environments, and how certified Video Flame Detection is now providing reliable, modern solutions.

We also spent time keeping the team up to date with the Ciqurix product range and its most popular applications, including:
*Cold stores and automated warehouses
*High‑bay logistics and distribution centres
*Waste & recycling facilities
*High‑airflow industrial environments
*Dark or difficult‑access areas

Sites where traditional detection is impractical or unreliable

It’s always great to work with partners who are committed to understanding compliant VFD and how it can support their customers in high‑risk, complex environments.

Thanks again to Videcon for the warm welcome and the engaged discussion, we're looking forward to continuing our work together.

Ciqurix Partner Spotlight Series: PWP Fire & Security

We’re continuing our Ciqurix Partner Spotlight series by highlighting PWP, a highly experienced, UK‑wide security provider with more than 160 directly employed staff and over 30 years delivering high‑quality fire detection systems.
PWP support a wide range of sectors including warehousing, logistics, distribution, healthcare, records management and power generation, building long‑standing relationships with end users, consultants and contractors who trust them to deliver reliable, compliant solutions.

As part of their commitment to offering modern, accredited fire detection options, PWP partnered with Ciqurix to bring certified Video Flame Detection into environments where traditional detection methods can be unreliable or unable to perform.

Why Ciqurix?
“Many of the environments we work in are vast, automated and operationally critical. Traditional smoke and heat detection often struggle in these conditions. Ciqurix’s certified Video Flame Detection fills long‑standing gaps in detection performance and gives us a compliant, reliable option for the sites that need it most.”

Where Ciqurix Makes the Difference
“We install systems in some of the most challenging environments in the industry, including cold stores that are fully automated, completely dark, up to 40 metres high and operating at –40°C. Ciqurix’s multi‑spectral video flame detection has delivered fault‑free operation with zero false alarms, giving customers confidence in both performance and stability.”

As PWP continue to expand their fire offering across logistics, distribution and cold‑store environments, Ciqurix provides a certified, dependable alternative to previous video‑based solutions, helping them deliver robust detection in some of the most demanding operational settings.

🐾 It’s National Bring Your Dog to Work Day at Ciqurix! 🐾

Today we’re celebrating the real heroes behind the scenes… the Ciqurix dogs.

From cold‑store‑compatible fluffballs to high‑alert hallway patrollers, our four‑legged “team members” bring just as much energy, loyalty and enthusiasm as the humans do.

While they may not be certified for multi‑spectral flame detection (yet), they are experts in:
🐶 Boosting morale
🐶 Encouraging walk‑and‑talk meetings
🐶 Alerting us to the arrival of the post
🐶 Supervising Teams calls with great seriousness

At Ciqurix, we’re proud of the people and pets who make our work culture what it is.
Here’s a look at the dogs who keep our team smiling, grounded and occasionally distracted in the best possible way.

Happy from all of us (and all of them).
