22 Miles. 25 Teams. 1 Epic Marathon Rowing Race!
Teams from up-and-down the UK converged in Dale for a morning of race registration and festivities hosted by Dale Rowing Club
With clear skies, a gentle breeze and calm waters in the bay, teams lined up at the waters edge, preparing for a dramatic beach start.
Organised by Helen Heaton and Llangwm Rowing Club, heats were staggered to get everybody arriving in Haverfordwest for the River Festival at the same time.
Teams fought their way out of Dale into the estuary currents and choppier water, past the Irish ferry, Milford Haven, Neyland, Pembroke Dock and under the Cleddau Bridge, before entering the chicanes of the upper Cleddau.
Although the waters were still, rowers were now battling the tide, which had started to turn! Paired with a head wind, rowers couldn't let up just yet, having to push themselves hard to the finish line in Haverfordwest.
At the finish line, rowers were met by eager crowds, family and councillors, who all helped lift boats from the water before the after party and award ceremony at HaverHub
Whitestone Media Group had an absolute blast filming the day from the shore, on the water with Welsh Sea Rowing and by drone!
This race was sponsored by Dale Sailing with video sponsor Pembrokeshire Powerboating and Sailing Academy
