Web design secrets revealed - they don’t want us to share these.
We went from designing brochures and catalogues on Macs, to websites on PCs, to flipbooks. We watched websites move onto platforms and lose their character and their client's actual ownership along with it. We watched potential clients choose packages over bespoke. We watched people turn to Canva and clip art for graphic design and churn out clone after clone.
All of it we absorbed, reacted to, and got on with it but AI is different. On one hand it can improve systems, increase efficiency, remove the mundane admin, and connect things that never used to talk to each other.
What I still don't believe is that it can replace a human creative. AI doesn't have real eyes.
AI doesn't have creative experience and creative instincts.
With that in mind, I thought it would be interesting to reveal what some competing website “designers” have quietly been doing for years.
I wonder how many people actually know about these shortcuts, and whether the designers using them regret it now that AI is coming for the exact same shortcuts they took?
Our continued future is built on a simple belief. Clients still want the taste of Waitrose, or the style of Oakley sunglasses. They don't want the clone look. They want artwork that's actually artwork, made by hand.
All our work is and always has been handcrafted, handmade, and hand drawn. It starts with a pencil.
We hadn't fully realised, after all this time, that this was our real unique selling point.
We thought it was customer service, and the magic triangle of price, quality and time which we have always worked to excel at.
So thank you, AI, for helping us find the selling point that was hiding in plain sight all along. We're looking forward to finding more clients who want human interaction mixed with handmade design and marketing.
Just to be clear, we're not anti AI but we are pro handcrafted work.
