Migrating from eDOCS to SharePoint is rarely simple.
When you combine large content volumes, complex security models and a detailed Information Architecture, the risk of disruption can be significant.
That was the challenge Belfast City Council faced when modernising its legacy NetDocuments eDOCS (formerly OpenText) environment and transitioning to SharePoint Online.
Partnering with Proventeq, the council implemented an end-to-end migration strategy using our Migration Accelerator and discovery tools to analyse, design and deliver a best practice SharePoint Online environment.
Project Results:
🚀 Improved Productivity: Archived content and metadata were cleansed, transformed and successfully classified, improving accessibility and day-to-day efficiency.
🔐 Security Model Successfully Mapped: Library-wide and item-level security from NetDocuments eDOCS Open replicated within SharePoint Online, maintaining governance and compliance.
🗂 Optimised Information Architecture: A tailored categorisation structure ensured content was organised logically and aligned to business needs.
🔎 Full Audit & Data Integrity: Item-level audits enabled controlled migration, error correction and complete validation of migrated assets.
⏱ Minimal Organisational Downtime: Migration delivered within desired timescales with limited disruption to council operations.
By modernising its content platform, Belfast City Council created a secure, structured and future-ready digital workplace built on Microsoft 365.
