Many of our users have already noticed that our drone flight planning and management tools now display UK Military Air Traffic Zones (MATZ) after being raised in a recent CHIRP report; https://eu1.hubs.ly/H0mY6pB0

MATZ do not have specific approval/notification requirements for drone operators, unlike Flight Restriction Zones (FRZs). However, operators are recommended to notify the aerodrome when operating within a MATZ.

The addition of MATZ in certain geographic areas has increased the map information displayed. As such, we are continuing to refine our approach to how we display airspace data to drone operators.

After last year’s wildfires the Glenuig Estate is using drones to help nature recover.
The “Seeds from the Sky” project is using drones to scatter native tree seeds. Backed by local volunteers and community funding, it’s great to see people and technology working together.

A nature restoration group is to target its Seeds from the Sky project at areas of a Lochaber estate.

⚠️Thank you for your patience as we investigated the recent issue affecting some Android users of the Drone Assist app. The issue was caused by a compatibility problem following a recent security certificate update, which impacted older Android devices. We have identified and resolved the issue, and an app update will be released shortly via the Google Play Store to restore full functionality. In the meantime, our other free solutions Drone Safety Map and Operator Portal remain fully available. We appreciate your understanding and continued support.
