🛠️ We've only gone and made Bingo even better.

Make A Makey Bingo is a drop-in challenge at Build & Brew — our free Thursday afternoon making sessions at the Lighthouse Project in Middleton.

How it works: grab something from the bag — Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi, sensors, whatever — and make something that does the thing on the card. First to get a line shouts "Make A Makey!" and wins a biscuit. Full house gets the GOOD biscuits.

Every square is doable with free, open source tools. No experience needed. No registration. No catch.

Because the best future is one we all build, we all own, and we all use. 💪

Every Thursday 2–4pm. Just turn up.

🔌💡 Want to build your own smart devices — and actually understand how they work?

We're running a free two-session electronics and coding programme at The Lighthouse Project in Middleton, and there are still places available.

📅 Session 1 — Monday 11 May, 10am–2pm
📅 Session 2 — Wednesday 13 May, 10am–2pm

You'll get hands-on with real circuits, learn to code for physical hardware, and work with Arduino microcontrollers — from scratch, together. No experience needed. No lectures. Just doing.

Here's a question I ask myself before every workshop or support session: am I actually helping this person, or am I just making myself useful?
There's a difference. One builds confidence and independence. The other builds dependency.
Brazilian philosopher Paulo Freire called the dependency-building approach the "banking model" of education — and it's more common than you'd think, including in IT training.
I've written about why No Worries IT tries to do the opposite — and what that looks like in practice when someone's picking up an Arduino for the first time or trying to understand why their laptop's gone wrong.
