AI voice assistants have come a long way from "press 1 for sales."
The good ones now hold a real conversation, understand what a caller needs, and can book appointments or send updates automatically.
We've broken down where this technology works well, where it still falls short, and what to check before choosing a system.

Quick question for any business owners with an internal IT team: if your best IT person was off sick tomorrow, would things still run smoothly?

A fast recovery from an IT issue looks great, but often it only works because one person knows exactly what to do. This week's Co-Managed Minute looks at why that's a bigger risk than it seems, and how to fix it before it becomes a problem.

Manchester, East Midlands and Stansted airports have confirmed a cyberattack exposing personal details of around 8.7 million customers. Names, emails, phone numbers, postcodes and vehicle registrations from fast-track bookings, car parks, lounges and Wi-Fi registrations were accessed, though no bank details were involved.

Operations weren't disrupted, but that's not really the point. Security experts have flagged the real risk: criminals may sit on this data for months, then use it to send convincing scam texts referencing real bookings or "parking fines" once the story has faded from the news.

It's a reminder that a breach isn't just about what's stolen today. It's about what gets weaponised later. If your business holds customer data linked to bookings, payments or vehicles, now's a good time to check how well that data is segmented and who could actually reach it in the event of a compromise.

Is AI actually saving your business time, or has it just moved the work somewhere less visible?
We've written about "human middleware" - what happens when staff end up bridging the gap between systems that don't talk to each other properly. Have a read: https://pnwks.uk/aiwhwf
