When Friday Gets Away From You...

So I completely missed my usual Friday post last week. Not because I forgot - because I was too busy actually living the week to pause and write about it.

Here's what happened:

Monday: New website goes live. Decodefy AI demos. Oh, and our drains blocked. Properly. The glamorous side of business ownership.

Tuesday: All 1 Network meeting at The Sidings in York - what an incredible venue and brilliant people to connect with. Client meetings that reminded me why we do this.

Wednesday: More Decodefy AI demos. The Scarborough Small Business Expo at the Rugby Club - fantastic day with brilliant conversations.

Thursday: BRBN network meeting with new members joining. More Decodefy AI demos. Partner chats that got me genuinely excited about what's coming.

Friday: Demos. Team meeting. Looked up at 4pm and thought "I should probably post something." Then immediately fell asleep instead.

By the time I surfaced, the week was done.

Sometimes the best weeks are the ones that leave you too knackered to document them properly whilst they're happening.

But honestly? I wouldn't change a thing. Not even the drains.

Just back from BoB Yorkshire Expo in York - the AI day. 10am-2pm at Forest Park Golf Club.

Got to speak today, which was brilliant. Slightly terrifying following two extremely talented AI professionals, but I survived.

Security came up a lot. Implementation came up more. Everyone's trying to figure out: are we using AI for the right reasons, or just because it feels like we should be?

The bit that made the whole day worth it - businesses coming over afterwards because they could finally see how to use AI in a safe way that actually helps their business. Not complicated. Not risky. Just systems that give you your time back instead of eating more of it.

That's what most people are missing. AI tools promise to make life easier but half of them just create more work. Professional systems should eliminate the chaos, not add to it.

Thanks to Bob for organising. Great catching up with some brilliant Yorkshire businesses today - all dealing with the same challenges, all trying to make AI work without the overwhelm.

Forest Park Golf Club is still one of the best venues around if you're running events.

Big BOB week!

This morning's BOB York East meeting was smaller than usual (everyone's on holiday) but ended up being brilliant. Deeper conversations instead of the usual rushed networking. Sometimes smaller is better.

Then along for a cuppa with Nick and Dom from Inc Dot Design & Print in York. Talked lumpy mail campaigns, then somehow ended up deep in AI chat. As you do!

Turns out those two things work quite well together when you think about it.

Tomorrow we've got Club York Expo at Forrest Park Golf Club. If you're local and curious about how AI can actually give you time back (instead of creating more admin) - come along. Would be great to see you.

Friday afternoon and what a week it's been! ☕

We've had new website meetings - getting all the right pictures sorted and making sure the content actually says what the business does - thank goodness for Decodefy on that front! Published websites that have been weeks in the making. Loads of Decodefy demos and new client onboarding sessions.

The lovely bit this week? Referrals and recommendations coming through. There's nothing quite like it when someone trusts you enough to send business your way.

And we've had some of our long-term clients taking on Decodefy as well - clients who've been with us for years, still growing, still letting us be part of their journey. That really is the best part of what we do.

Next couple of weeks we've got expos in York and Scarborough, so this week has been all presentation building, learning sessions, and networking across Beverley and Hull. Lots of early mornings. Tomorrow's lie-in is definitely happening. (If only - we all know how that actually goes!)

Honestly though, this is why I love this work. The variety. No two days are ever the same. Some of our clients have been with us for 20 years. Some are brand new this month. All of them are building something brilliant, and we get to help.

So thank you. To everyone who's been with us from the beginning, and everyone who's just joined us. We're genuinely excited to be working with you.

Right then - weekend time. Hoping for sunshine. Hoping for a bit of rest. Probably getting neither, but we'll see! 😊

Great morning at Bob Club York East.

Came away with two things - a planner and water bottle (thank you), and something far more important.

Dr Peter from the Three Bears Foundation in York gave an update talk on pancreatic cancer. The everyday symptoms that seem completely normal but, if you don't catch them early, can lead to catastrophic outcomes in a very short time.

That information could genuinely save someone's life.

This is exactly why I turn up to these meetings. Yes, the connections matter. But it's those one-to-one conversations where something clicks - you suddenly realise you could introduce someone to their dream client.

That's the beauty of proper networking.
