It's been raining for days here, so I was going through some photos on my phone from last week - and this one made me smile all over again.

A blackbird. Standing on the lawn. Not at the bird bath, not hunting for worms.

At the sprinkler head. Drinking from the little pool of water that had gathered in the cavity at the top.

The sprinkler wasn't even on.

He didn't need it to be. The water was there. He found it.

I've been thinking about that little moment ever since - because it's one of the best illustrations I've seen of something we talk about with business owners all the time.

You don't need to be everywhere. You don't need to be shouting the loudest.

You just need to have what people are looking for - and be somewhere they can find it.

Every call answered when someone rings. Every website visitor spoken to. Every review building your reputation week on week.

The blackbird didn't go searching for a running tap. He found still water in an unexpected place - because it was there.

Your next customer is doing the same thing right now.

Is what they need waiting for them when they find you?

If you're not sure, let's have a chat. Drop me a message or visit flowemedia.com

I was out walking with the dog this morning when I stopped dead in my tracks. 🐕

The mud track through the fields had completely split open. Huge, wide cracks running right through it - the kind you only get when the ground has gone without water for so long it doesn't just dry out. It breaks apart.

I stood there staring at it, and I couldn't stop thinking about businesses.

Because that's exactly what I see happening. Not in one dramatic moment. Gradually. Quietly. A call goes unanswered. A website visitor clicks away without making contact. A customer finishes a job happy, and nobody ever thinks to ask them for a review.

Small gaps at first. Easy to miss when you're busy.

But left long enough - in dry enough conditions - those gaps get wide. And deep. And that's when customers start falling through them. Not to nobody. To the competitor who happened to pick up when you couldn't.

The hardest part? Most business owners don't see it happening in real time. They're on site. With the next customer. Getting the work done. The cracks are forming while they face forward.

I've sat with business owners who had genuinely no idea how many calls they were missing each week - until we showed them the numbers. Some were losing nearly half their incoming calls. Just gone. No voicemail. No second chance. Straight to whoever answered next.

That's not a small crack.

What Flowe360 does - in its simplest form - is fill those gaps. Every call answered. Every website visitor spoken to. Every review requested after every job. The ground stays solid. Nothing falls through.

The fields will crack again. The summer will do what it does.

Your business doesn't have to.

If any of this sounds familiar - if there's a nagging feeling that you might be losing more than you realise - I'd love to have a proper chat about it. No pitch, no pressure. Just a conversation where we look at what's actually happening in your business.

Drop me a message or give me a call. I'm here.

The bank holiday weekend gave me something I hadn't realised I needed. 🌿

We went walking. Real walking - boots, hills, and the kind of scenery that makes you just stop for a minute and breathe it in. No phone in hand. No inbox waiting. Just trees, a river, and the people I love.

Somewhere along that path, my head went quiet. Not empty. Quiet. The kind of quiet where you actually start to think again.

I took a picture of this line of trees running alongside the river. Each one slightly different, doing its own thing, growing in its own way - but they were in a line. Uniform. Moving in the same direction. Together.

And I thought: that's what good structure does. It doesn't make everything the same. It gives everything room to grow in the right direction.

That's what we try to do with Decodefy. We spend time really understanding how a business owner talks, what they care about, what their customers need to hear - and then build something that holds it all together. So it comes out consistently, whether the owner is on site, at home, or on a walk that they actually needed. 😊

The business owner gets to be themselves. The structure does the holding.

I think that's what the trees were trying to tell me, anyway. Either that, or I just need more walks.

Which is probably also true.

💬 If you're curious about what Decodefy does - or wondering if it might help your business - just drop me a message. Happy to have a chat, no strings attached.

How is it Friday again? 😄

What a week. York, Beverley, online, back in the car, repeat.

I've zigzagged across the country - physically and virtually - meeting new people, welcoming new clients, and fitting all the usual bits in between. The calls, the client conversations, the prospective client conversations, and the production side of things that doesn't care how busy the diary is.

It's the bit people don't always see. The switching. One minute you're at a networking breakfast in York, the next you're on a Zoom, the next you're writing up notes from both.

Wouldn't change it. But I am very grateful that Monday is a bank holiday. 😄

I'll be back on Tuesday - probably with a list of ideas longer than my drive home.

Hope everyone has a lovely long weekend. 🌞

What a lovely morning!

I had the pleasure of sitting down with Helen Quinn at Fulford Golf Club today - Helen has just joined our York networking group and we wanted to properly get to know each other so we could speak confidently about what each other does to our clients and contacts.

I knew Helen worked in compliance. I had no idea quite how impressive her background is.

Helen is the founder of Quinn Oath Advisory, based right here in York. She provides senior-level FCA compliance and governance support to businesses across Yorkshire and the UK - the kind of experienced input that firms need but don't always have in-house. Whether a business is navigating FCA authorisation, dealing with Consumer Duty requirements, or simply isn't sure whether their compliance arrangements are up to scratch, Helen is the person to call.

What I loved most about our conversation was how calm and approachable she makes the whole subject. Compliance and regulation can feel really daunting if it isn't your world. Helen has a way of cutting through the complexity and making it feel completely manageable.

We also spotted some really interesting new avenues during our chat that could open some exciting doors for Helen - really looking forward to seeing where those go!

If you know anyone who is dealing with FCA matters, thinking about offering finance options to their customers, or just wants an independent expert to cast an experienced eye over their compliance setup - please do point them in Helen's direction. You won't find anyone better.

So glad to have Helen in the group - looking forward to seeing her thrive!

Had one of those calls today that just made me smile all the way through. ☺️

I met Stephanie Poppins - founder of Neworld Books and host of the award-winning Female Stoic Podcast - and honestly? She's a revelation.

Here's what stopped me in my tracks.

Stephanie doesn't need someone to create content for her. She IS the content. Every audiobook performed in her own voice. Every episode researched and recorded by her. Original fiction. Philosophy. Music. All human-made. All hers. No shortcuts. No AI. Just a genuinely extraordinary woman doing extraordinary work.

What we talked about today was making sure the world actually finds it.

Because that's the thing - she's already producing more than most agencies could keep up with. What she needed was the right infrastructure around it. Smart systems that work in the background so her voice gets out to the right people, consistently, without her having to manage five different platforms.

That's exactly the conversation I love having.

Stephanie, it was such a pleasure to meet you today. I can't wait to see what happens next.

If you haven't come across her work yet - go and look her up.

Friday. Done. 🎉

What a week. Online meetings across the UK, training sessions, new clients, existing clients, networking - the kind of week where your calendar plays Tetris with your sanity.

But the thing that's made all of it worth it?

More than one client told us this week they're taking the WHOLE weekend off. Both days. First time in ages.

Not because things went quiet. Because the system is handling it for them. Calls answered. Follow-ups done. Nothing slipping through.

That's the bit I love most about what we do. ❤️

Thank you to every client we connected with this week - new faces and familiar ones alike. You remind us every single week why this matters.

Now I'm signing off and taking my own advice.

Have a brilliant weekend, everyone. You've earned it. 🌿

Something I've been thinking about a lot lately.

Life has a way of throwing things at us when we least expect it. A family situation. A difficult week. A period where you're just trying to keep your head above water.

And during those times, your business doesn't stop.

Your phone still rings. Someone still finds your website at 7pm. A potential new customer still sends a message expecting a reply.

Here's the bit that stays with me though.

There's a 5-minute window. MIT research showed that if you respond to an enquiry within 5 minutes, you're 21 times more likely to win that customer than if you wait just 30 minutes.

After that window? They've moved on. Not because you're not good at what you do. Because someone else picked up first.

78% of customers go with the first business to respond. Not the best. The first.

On average, local service businesses miss over 40% of their calls. Most owners genuinely don't realise it's that high until they see the number.

The businesses I work with that have a system handling their calls and enquiries automatically - they stop worrying about this. Because even when life gets in the way, their business keeps answering.

If you'd like to know how many calls your business is actually missing, drop me a message. It's a quick conversation and it usually opens a few eyes.

Well, what a month that's been. 😅

Holidays, family, clients keeping us busier than we'd planned for - life basically decided to arrive all at once. And something had to give. That something was social media.

There was a time I'd have felt terrible about it. The guilt of the unposted is real, trust me. But as we get older and (hopefully!) a little wiser, you realise you can't do everything - and that's absolutely fine.

The sun has been out, the clients have been brilliant, and the family time has been wonderful. No apologies for any of it.

So I'm back. A little tanned, a lot grateful, and ready to show up here more regularly again from today.

If you've had the same kind of summer - good. You deserved it. The internet will still be here when you get back. 😊

Have a lovely Monday everyone.

Your phone rang while you were on the job.

You were up a ladder. Hands full. Couldn't get to it.

It went to voicemail.

They didn't leave one.

That call - the one you never heard - was someone who needed exactly what you do. They had the job ready. The budget sorted. They just wanted someone to pick up.

You didn't.

So they tried the next number on the list.

And that plumber - the one you've been undercutting on price for three years, the one whose work you've seen and quietly thought _I do this better_ - he answered.

He's quoting that job right now.

You didn't lose it because your price was wrong. You didn't lose it because your work isn't good enough. You lost it because you were busy doing good work for someone else, and nobody was there to answer.

That's not a you problem.

It's a systems problem.

And it's happening more often than you know.

How many calls did you miss last week? Drop a number in the comments - no judgement, just want to know what the reality looks like out there.
