Our lovely Wendy will be leaving our Volunteer group after Saturday’s repair cafe.

Wendy has been with us for 3 years (can you believe we’ve been running 3 years this month?!) and we are very grateful for all of the time, effort and support you have given our Repair Cafe, as Treasurer and as resident cake baker!

Thank you so much Wendy - we will miss you and your wonderful cakes and bakes! ❤️

🚨 The North East is spending BIG on replacing items that could be fixed! 🚨

A huge £846 million is being spent across the North East on replacing items that could have been repaired.

In fact, 64% of people in the UK admit they spend around £277 a year on things they believe could have been fixed instead 😱

But there’s good news right here in County Durham 👇
We’ve got four permanent, volunteer-led repair cafés running every month – helping save money, cut waste, and keep items in use ♻️

July’s cafés start with Cassop Repair Cafe tomorrow, followed by Friendly Fixers - Repair Café and the Merryoaks Community Hall Repair Café this Saturday (4th), with Seaham Repair Café rounding things off next Saturday (11th).

What a marvellous morning we had last week, when we visited the lovely children and teachers at St Cuthbert’s Primary School, in Seaham.

We were very impressed with the skills and creativity shown by the children, and together we made some brilliant bird boxes and fabulous bug hotels, to welcome wildlife.

The children told us all about their passion for recycling and repurposing things, and how important it is to be environmentally friendly. We couldn’t agree more!

Well done to all of the children and thank you to St Cuthbert's Primary School for such a warm welcome!
