🛑 Stop & Shop US Tour 🟢

We hit up the local Stop & Shop which had a much bigger selection of crisps (chips) than Walmart and Target which was quite surprising. We couldn’t capture them all but watch the video to see what we did find! 😱

📣 Eat Crisps Review 📣
Brand: (Lays BE)
Variety: Bugles
Flavour: Sweet Chilli
Type: Maize Snack

We had never seen Bugles in Sweet Chilli flavour so were intrigued to see what the flavour/texture combination was like.

Bugles do have an odd texture and taste but not one that puts us off, so the combo with Sweet Chilli was actually quite pleasant. Don't expect any spicy kick off these, they're more sweet than anything. They don't compare to anything like Sweet Chilli Sensations so don't expect the same.

The bonus of these was it's a decent sized bag so we got to sample a good amount before arriving at our above verdict. They're OK but we wouldn't get them again, we'd find a better packet to try.

📣 Eat Crisps Review 📣

Variety: Big Papa
Flavour: Dill Pickle
Type: Pickle Puff

We picked up all 3 flavours from Amazon as we just couldn't find them in the shops we usual go in; that's commitment!

Anyway, we start with the plain 'ol Dill Pickle flavoured Big Papa's. We did expect them to be like Wotsits Giants based on the pack graphics but instead they were just long standard Wotsits.

We're not huge fans of strong dill but when tasting these, they were quite mild, so they were alright on our scale. We're still not convinced by Dill Pickle products, we're more than happy with a Pickled Onion to be honest! 🤣

📣 Eat Crisps Review 📣
Brand: (Humpty Dumpty)
Variety: Ripples
Flavour: All Dressed
Type: Crinkle Cut

These are the second of the Humpty Dumpty flavours we managed to grab in the US with a familiar global flavour of 'All Dressed'.

Upon opening the packet we could both smell and see the seasoning on these crisps, so much seasoning which is why they're a slight orange! 🫠

We can definitely taste all the flavours on these even if they are a little too strong across the board; barbecue, salt and vinegar, ketchup, and sour cream and onion! They've done well capturing all that in a crisp, it's a taste mashup!

We enjoyed these, loads of flavour, decent sized bag, and ridge cut too, everything you could want. Go and try these if you get a chance!

Flavour: Smokin' BBQ
Type: Tortilla

Another USA tour crisp (chip) and this time it was a flavour favourite of BBQ! Takis aren't usually our go to crisp but there are so many flavours in the US that you cannot pass on them; gotta try them all right?

These were actually very good, they've got both a sweet and smoky taste as well as a nice kick of spice which is subtle enough not to make your mouth burn up; we like that type of spicy kick.

Couple with the rolled tortilla and a nice tube for seasoning to get in, they're actually really tasty and crunchy. We might have to buy these again!

Type: Waffle Chip

We didn't even know Chick-fil-A did their own crisps so when we found out, we had to grab a bag. We only managed to get Original (Salted) so we don't know if there are other flavours; let us know?!

Let's start with the texture. These waffle chips are great, they've got the crunch but also plenty of potato so you get a decent mouthful per bite. Think a lattice crisp but much much better!

The flavour is as you would expect for an original salted crisp, salty, so nothing special here, just adequate.

Flavour: Fuego (Hot Chili Pepper & Lime)
Type: Pringle

We're pretty sure these are new and to call them "crisps" in America is crazy! 🤣

The seasoning on these is very heavy on one side of the crisps but the flavour and heat is still enough on this one side to give your mouth a proper kick. Eat one at a time, you'll be alright, but whack 4 or 5 of these in one go, and it'll be pretty hot! 🫠

The texture is thicker than a Pringle so you get a softer crunch, and they're also a little bit smaller in our opinion.

Whilst alright, they're not beating Pringles anytime soon. Good effort though and if you like heat, you will probably like them.

Flavour: Salt & Vinegar
Type: Regular Crisp

We found this whilst transiting through South Station in Boston, and it's a brand we've never seen before! They look to be a sub-brand of Utz but if anyone can confirm?

Anyway, the pack was the thing that caught our eyes when scanning the shop in the station; very appealing. They had a few other flavours but Salt & Vinegar is always a go to and easy to do a comparison on.

The chips on these aren't really thick as named on the packet but definetly got the crunch you would expect. Flavour wise, these don't have the S&V kick like some other brands and are probably 50% of the strength to the Co-op GOAT S&V crisps.

These were still enjoyable, but just on the weaker side of the S&V strength rating; no mouth burn with these!

Brand: (Funyuns)
Flavour: Onion
Type: Rings

Had to grab these Funyuns as their considered a classic chip in the US, so wanted to see what the fuss is about, and how do they compare to UK supermarket own-brand.

These rings are very big, but also a bit thinner when compared to the UK equivalent. Also, the flavour is weaker, let of that onion punch on your breathe that would normally put someone off being close to you 🤣

Perhaps weaker on flavour is not the correct word, but we'll call them a subtle onion flavour which would be enjoyable for those not after the strong onion taste.

These are good, but if you crave a strong Onion Ring, go grab a UK supermarket own-brand Onion Ring.
