Sending artwork off to the printers can feel a little nerve-wracking, especially if you are investing in a big run of flyers, brochures, or exhibition banners. Once that print button is pressed, there is no quick backspace key!
To help you feel completely confident before sending your files off, here are three essential checks every business owner should make:
First, check your image resolution. Screen graphics look crisp at 72dpi, but print requires 300dpi at full size. If an image looks slightly fuzzy on screen, it will look even blurrier on paper.
Second, ensure your document includes bleed and crop marks. Printers need a few extra millimetres of background artwork extending beyond the trim edge so you do not end up with unwanted white borders after trimming.
Third, check for total brand alignment. Are you using your exact brand colours and primary fonts across all materials, or have non-standard substitutes crept in? Keeping your printed flyers, leaflets, and banner stands aligned with your website ensures your business always looks polished and professional.
Taking a few minutes to review these technical details saves time, money, and stress. If you ever need a hand preparing artwork or designing print materials that make an impact, our team is always here to help.
