There's an important difference between person-centred care and person-led care. 💙
A service can be designed around a person and still be largely provider-led. The real test is whether people can actually influence the care they receive.
Can they raise a concern without fear of reprisal?
Can they see their feedback was heard and acted on?
A solid feedback and complaints system is one of the clearest ways to give people that voice. But for many providers, feedback is scattered across inboxes, paper forms, spreadsheets and phone notes, meaning people may be speaking up, but the organisation still isn't reliably hearing them.
A capable system needs to support the whole cycle: capture, acknowledgement, triage, investigation, response, escalation, resolution, review and improvement.
And feedback isn't only negative - MOA Benchmarking's analysis of three months of resident feedback found 54% was positive, 33% complaints, and 13% suggestions.
That's valuable intelligence most providers are only seeing part of.
We've unpacked all of this in our latest article, "Giving people a voice in care"
