𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆

Having access to a device today is about much more than just getting online. It helps people build the confidence to use technology in everyday life — from completing schoolwork and booking medical appointments, to learning new skills and staying connected with friends, family, and their community.

Through the responsible reuse of technology, 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 refurbishes donated laptops and passes them on to organisations like 𝗠𝗮𝗱𝗟𝗮𝗯, where young people can develop digital skills in inclusive and supportive learning environments.

At just 17, John (name changed) has lived through more than most adults.
Trauma, homelessness, school disruption, and the loss of his father have shaped a childhood full of challenges.

But today marks a new beginning💙

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗿𝗲𝗹𝘆𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝘀… 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗳𝘂𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 ❤️

Louise came to the UK with 15 years of teaching experience. But when her qualifications weren’t recognised, she had to start again, studying full-time to requalify and even taking an interpreter’s certification course so she could work in hospitals and public services.

She had the passion.
She had the skills.
She had the determination.
What she didn’t have was a laptop.

Without one, every assignment meant staying at college late at night. Every online task meant asking her support worker for help.

𝗔 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲 𝗹𝗮𝗽𝘁𝗼𝗽 - 𝗔 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁 💻✨

When a 16-year-old boy in Manchester stayed behind to care for his 76-year-old grandmother, life became a struggle. She was doing everything she could on a small pension but couldn’t afford the laptop he needed to continue his college studies.

That’s when Community Computers and Manchester City Council’s 𝗘𝗮𝗿𝗹𝘆 𝗛𝗲𝗹𝗽 𝗛𝘂𝗯 stepped in. Through the Early Help Assessment Team’s support and our refurbished device, we were able to provide him with a laptop, helping him get back into education and plan for his future. His grandmother said it was “the break they needed.” ❤️

At 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀, we believe everyone deserves access to technology and stories like this remind us why our work matters.

Thanks to a Google Jamboard donated by 𝗔𝗽𝗮𝗱𝗺𝗶 and refurbished by 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝘂𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀, local people at 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗠𝗲 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 (𝗛𝗠𝗛𝗖) in Gorton Central now have access to technology that would otherwise be out of reach.

Instead of an old projector, the centre now has a powerful interactive screen that’s already transforming how the community learns and connects:
✅ Volunteer training is more engaging and hands-on
✅ Health education sessions are clearer and more visual
✅ ESOL and community groups can collaborate dynamically
✅ People gain confidence using advanced technology for the first time

Instead of becoming e-waste, this Jamboard is now helping hundreds of people build skills, share ideas, and improve wellbeing at the heart of their community. 💻❤️

For two teenage brothers in Stockport, schoolwork was almost impossible without a computer at home. Their family, facing financial struggles, had no way of accessing digital devices.

Thanks to the incredible support of Home-Start HOST, who uncovered the family’s hidden challenges, and the generosity of Stockport Homes, a refurbished laptop from Community Computers has now changed their lives.

This single device is more than just a laptop – it’s a lifeline.
