This last week i had a call to ask if i could pop to take a look at a job where the lights were flickering and the cooker circuit was tripping randomly.
Upon visiting the property and inspecting a lot of the rcbos had loose/poorly terminated cables. A couple were even just sat in loose terminals and one was cracked from overtightening.
The customer wasn't happy as they had another contractor carry out electrical work as well as change the consumer unit in the past 12 months. Im amazed they had managed 12 months.
All the circuit cables were removed cut re-stripped & properly terminated before being torqued to the manufactures specification using a torque screwdriver.
Funnily enough there has been no more tripping or flickering lights since.
Sometimes it pays to make sure the basics are correct with solid torqued to manfactures spec connections.
