Hot days like this remind us of one of our favourite ever projects, and one of the most impressive we've ever worked on.

A few years back we worked on Visionaire 56 Solar, a limited edition artist's book sponsored by Calvin Klein Collection. Visionaire are a New York-based art and fashion publication legendary for pushing the boundaries of what a book can actually be. Solar was their 56th issue, a celebration of summer featuring original artworks by Alex Katz, Peter Lindbergh, Ryan McGinley and David Sims.

And it was designed for hot sunny days like this: it arrived in an all-white slipcase, all-white cover, black and white inside. But the moment you took it out into the sunshine, it completely transformed.

Photochromic inks hidden across every page reacted to the UV light and an entire world of colour emerged.

After trusting us with the production of The Grand Book of Nature, La Salamandre came back with a new challenge: a field version of the same work.

Same content, new logic, how do you turn a 736-page encyclopaedia into a book designed to be used outdoors, in real conditions?

The original edition represents 20 years of work, 2,600 species, 4,500 illustrations, and over 18,000 copies sold since 2021. A reference work, but designed for libraries, not backpacks.

What changes in production:

736 sewn pages in sections on FSC semi-matt paper, ensuring colour stability and readability outdoors.

A cover built to withstand field use: scratch-resistant matt lamination + selective UV varnish on key graphic areas.

Three colour-coded ribbon markers to navigate across 83 chapters without folding pages.

And a bonus feature: a PVC bookmark inserted at the end of the book, combining reading reference, symbol guide, and a millimetre ruler to measure tracks directly in nature.

This month, we’re taking a closer look at Re:claimed, a beautifully crafted volume produced for Re:claimed, the specialist wooden flooring company.

One of the key challenges in making this book was how could we feature physical material like wood in a printed book.

To answer that, the production combines multiple uncoated stocks, full-bleed debossing on the contents pages, and a thermo-reactive faux leather cover to create something that feels as premium as the content.
The result is a book that capture the essence of one of the most complex materials.

To mark ten years of All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend, AURORA has curated a companion book built from early notebooks, sketches and lyrics.
It captures her journey of learning to accept her inner “demons” rather than fear them.

She calls it: “a snapshot of everything that went on in my heart, my mind, and my body around the time I wrote my first album.”

For production, that kind of content sets the tone. The book has to feel authentic.

210 pages including 4 double fold-outs and 3 two-page inserts to enhance the visual experience.

In print, publishing, and product design, the box is often the very first interaction someone has with your product.
