With the cost of living currently crippling almost every family and industry, it’s imperative for us all to try to make savings wherever possible, that’s why repair is almost always better than replace.

For example: We can replace a damaged screen on an iPhone 14 for £110, this is for a high end OLED aftermarket part that calibrates perfectly with the phone and retains all the features of a genuine part, it also comes with a 2 year warranty.

On the other hand, if you replace the phone on a new contract with Tesco Mobile the same iPhone 14 would cost you £29.99 a month for 36 months totalling £1079.64!
£17.49 of that would go towards buying the phone costing a total of £629.64, with the balance of £15 going for your airtime plan.

This means for comparison, if you got the phone repaired, had a sim only contract (example Lebara £5 a month) you would save a staggering £789.64 over 3 years.

The example used was a like for like phone on contract with Tescos 3GB data plan, the £5 Lebara plan is for the 5GB data plan.

Good Afternoon everyone,

Quick bit important reminder: If you get a call allegedly from BT, Microsoft or similar citing problems with your Internet (ip address) then be warned it’s a scam.

*Please just hang up!!*

While they are not very bright (they called us here at EAS Computer Services just now) these types of call are dangerous and if you allow them to connect to your computer, they will attempt to access your bank accounts, email accounts etc.

Large phone and internet companies are hard enough to get hold of if you actually want to talk to someone, so thinking logically, are they really going to call you? No.

Please pass this information on to friends, family or neighbours who don’t use social media.

Early job this morning was an iPad 11, which needed a new touch glass and LCD display, with Apples iPad prices predicted to rise over the next couple of months (due to increased global DRAM pricing) it’s always cheaper to repair than replace.

Yesterday was an overheating PlayStation 5, so it was fully stripped down cleaned and the processors Thermal Liquid Metal was replaced, the user can now go back to their games without it shutting down on overheat!

One thing we do need to note is our part costs are increasing exponentially, something that is out of our control, but we try to stay competitive while continuing to use the best quality parts.

15 Pro Max with new genuine rear glass fitted this morning, we always use genuine parts where possible as this keeps the devices full market worth intact, unlike using cheaper aftermarket parts which can severely degrade its value.

There’s never a dull moment here at EAS - earlier this week we were asked to fix this iPhone screen and take off the “Find my iPhone” after they alleged it got broken while escaping and were currently on the run…… the stories some people tell us eh 🤔

Ok 🙄 so 2 days with our new provider and we still can’t accept incoming calls on our landline number, we have been told it’s due to our number not yet having been released from our previous provider, (which seems odd as we can make outgoing calls)

Anyway, it just shows we are as prone to these issues as everyone else, so if you need to get hold of us please either message us on Facebook, email or call the mobile number.

Back in February we posted this warning about not charging your phone with the same lead that is used to charge a v**e.

This is a reminder as we have had this exact issue happen to a client this week.

Please use a dedicated leads for devices to reduce the chance of costly failures.

Seeing this message pop up more often on phones with the usb C ports - both Apple & Android

If you share the same cable for your v**e and phone you’re putting it at risk. The oily residue from your v**e can cause this to happen and most the time will require a new charging port to fix it.

One of our jobs this morning was to replace the back glass on an iPhone 15 Plus.

For a repair like this our preference is to use a genuine part, this means the part will be the same quality and pair perfectly to the phone both aesthetically and digitally.

We start by carefully removing the damaged glass by gently heating the device using our specialist heat mat, and lifting the glass, any remaing adhesive is then cleaned away.

Next we apply fresh adhesive and connect the glass back to the motherboard, its worth noting here that cheaper aftermarket glass is not only much more flimsy and brittle but also requires to have the wireless charge mat, sensors, microphone and LED to be transfered from the old damaged glass which is not only messy its also never a great finish.

Before bonding the back glass down we then access Apple diagnostics, which connects the phone directly to Apples servers and pairs the phone with the new component, this also confirms the part is genuine.

Once the configuration is complete the glass is bonded down and you have one professionally repaired phone at the fraction of the cost if taken to Apple.
