"Help... the guy hosting our website is in prison in Bali and the website's gone down!" 😱

That's the panicked phone call we took late one Friday afternoon recently!

A Bridal Shop suddenly found themselves with no website and no obvious way of getting it back online.

The immediate job was making sure people weren't seeing a "This site can't be reached" message!!

So within a few hours we'd put together a temporary landing page, pointed the domain across to it and made sure brides could still find the business, and make those all important dress viewing appointments the business relies on!

Once that immediate panic was over, we secured a copy of the website, moved everything onto our own hosting and got the full site back online.

We're now working through the updates that had been sitting on the to-do list for months.

It just goes to show that choosing someone to build your website is one thing. But, choosing someone who's still there when you need them is something else completely!

Sometimes the biggest value we add isn't building websites.

It's making sure that businesses can keep running when the unexpected happens.

So... should "Is your web host currently incarcerated?" become one of the questions we ask new clients? 😅

Last week we had a work experience student with us. Nathan did a fantastic job and really showed what he can do.

He wasn't just sat in the corner filing either! We really put him to work sampling all aspects of what we do ..so hopefully a really worthwhile experience for him!

And.. he even got the treat of a morning out at We Are Wakefield to see how businesses get together and network 😀

We took a trip over to Rotherham this morning to the latest Business Fair with The Yorkshire Society.

It was time to get out of the office this morning and visit a new venue for this month's We Are Wakefield meeting!

We often work with businesses who don’t need a brand new website…they just need the right edits in the right places.

We recently worked with a blinds & curtains supplier whose website already had a solid foundation but with a change of ownership after their founders retirement, it was time to refresh and bring in some new ideas.

So instead of starting from scratch, we focused on targeted improvements:

✔️ Adding product swatches to make choices easier

✔️ Improving how the site works for users

✔️ Fixing issues (including a Google Maps problem)

✔️ Making sure reviews and content stayed up to date

They were small changes on the surface but a much better experience for their customers.

It’s a good reminder that your website shouldn’t just sit there… it should actively support your business.
