10 years ago I left my job as a greetings card and gifting product designer so today is my 10th business birthday and here are 10 things that I’ve done over the last decade…

I am so grateful for every opportunity that has come my way over the last decade.

So big thanks to all of my clients, customers who have bought my products and those of you on here who have liked and shared my post.

BIG LOVE TO YOU ALL 🫶

1 - Since joining as a creator on Thortful I’ve sold over 24k greetings cards. That’s a lot of people who have opened an envelope to see one of my designs. My best selling design has sold over 5000 copies.

2 - Since 2018 I’ve worked with Big Moods and have designed over 1200 stickers for them.

3 - My bosses at my old job used to tell me my natural style was too quirky and not commercial enough. Back in 2018 I had the pinch me moment of seeing some of my designs stocked in Paperchase and Scribbler.

4 - I’ve designed around 100 bespoke pattern designs for dog accessories. The first company I worked with was Pawsome Paws Boutique who have had some of my designs stocked in huge retailers.

5 - I’ve had a few posts go fairly viral on Instagram. One having over 35k likes. My mind was blown!

6 - I’ve designed 5 of my sweary calendars and before that 5 of my punderful world of cats calendars. My best selling year was for my 2025 calendars where I sold 250 copies direct to customers.

7- One of my first big projects was designing a fully interactive website (amazing web developers did the build) that won a digital design award back in 2017.

8 - During lockdown I designed some chuckle brother badges which said “ 2 meter to you” which I made and sold over 100 of. This was probably my most viral product over the last decade.

9 - my biggest lesson has been burnout. It’s so important to make sure we look after ourselves physically and mentally. Putting good fuel into our bodies and getting outside and enjoying nature on a daily basis rain or shine

10 - I have paid for and maintained my home and cats with my

The end of August always leaves me feeling like I need to get to the shop and buy myself a new pencil case and stationery.

It’s like that back to school feeling never leaves you! (It’s been over 20 years since I left 😭🤣)

Anyways, I’ve got a cool new journal available on Amazon. I call it my chaos organiser. It’s sort of a companion to help you set goals, track progress and activity and plan stuff. But in a super fun way.

Just search “Katie Ruby Miller” on Amazon and you’ll find it.

I am one of these people that doesn’t deal well with everything being on my phone or scheduled into a computer. I have and always will be the sort of person that needs to write things down.

The notebook has been a trusty companion in my business since day 1 and my most recent one was getting close to the end. It was time for a new notebook, but a plain generic lined one wasn’t going to cut it.

So I decided to design my very own that would be filled with fun and visual ways to plan, motivate, stay focused, track progress and review over an entire year.

It’s going to be such a useful tool to me that I decided to keep the design and prompts nice and open and not focused just on business, because if this tool is going to help me, the likelihood is that it will be helpful to other people too.

So I’d love for you to take a look through some of (but not all) my fun notebook that I am going to begin using on the 1st September on my 10th business birthday!

Let me know what you think ☺️

When I put out a few weeks ago that I was offering pet portraits to help pay towards Nibbler’s vet bills my lovely friend wanted to help but doesn’t have a pet.

So instead she commissioned me to illustrate a portrait of her with her crocheted creation Leonard the frog.

I really enjoyed working on all of the portraits, so thanks everyone who showed me some support.

I just love this photo that George has recreated whilst holding her framed portrait☺️

I think my biggest achievement so far this year was making it through this summer.

Multiple heatwaves, 2 months without rain and sleepless nights have left me feeling like a husk of a human. (Pretty sure I get summer SADs)

Anyways I feel like I deserve all of these awards for making it through 3 months where it’s felt like I’ve been living in satans butt hole.

I’m sure a few of you also deserve some of these too? If so which ones? Comment below 👇

Let’s play a game to start the week off.

Take a look at 3 logo concepts and see if you can pick the same design that my clients did. Then let me know how you did below 👇

My favourite stage of any branding project is always the initial ideation. After receiving a brand questionnaire and creating a moodboard I then get to let my creative mind play with lots of ideas.

All logos begin life as a page with lots of little doodles and random ideas. It is a time for play and problem solving.

I then take my rough ideas and turn them into some very neat concepts to present to my clients, this is often more than 3 designs.

I love how some clients are instantly drawn to one concept and others like to take elements of a few and combine them in the development stage.

Which is your favourite of these designs and would you have chosen a different option?

I’m now taking on new clients from September. So if you are looking for a brand spanking new identity or looking for a brand refresh feel free to reach out in my DMs.

✨My other services include:
Illustration
Graphic design
Repeat pattern design
Packaging design
And more ✨

The Sun and Jupiter are aligning today (Day of Miracles / Kazimi energy) which only happens once a year.

Jupiter is the planet of luck, expansion, and abundance, and when it meets the Sun, the universe essentially turns the volume up on whatever energy you’re putting out.

Which means today is the best day for manifesting your biggest goals. We’re only expanding the good stuff today, so tell the stress to clear out and let the cosmic magic do its thing.

After his health check yesterday, my lovely boy Nibbler needs to have a lump removed and a biopsy.

If you’ve been following me this year you will know that I’ve been at the vets A LOT and unfortunately my savings pot got decimated.

Since then I’ve managed to save up a bit but I am short of what I need for Nibbler’s treatment.

So rather than doing a gofundme (as I’m too proud), I’m offering Pet portraits for a donation of £50 that will go directly towards his funds for the vets.

If you’d like to help me help Nibbler then please reach out with a message.
