Work From Anywhere? Challenge Accepted!

Richard, one of our Directors, recently swapped the office for a family motorhome adventure across North Wales, proving that with the right technology, work really can happen from anywhere.

His first stop was the beautiful seaside town of Harlech, home to the magnificent Harlech Castle, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built by Edward I between 1283 and 1289. Perched dramatically on a rocky outcrop, the castle was originally just a stone's throw from the sea and has witnessed over 700 years of Welsh history.

Between exploring the castle and enjoying some well earned downtime on the stunning Harlech Beach, there was still work to be done. On Friday evening, Richard joined our technical team remotely to help deliver a major Microsoft 365 migration project, ensuring our client experienced a smooth transition without disruption.

From there, the journey continued into Snowdonia for a spot of wild camping beside a breathtaking lake in Llanberis. The following day, the family took the famous Snowdon Mountain Railway to the summit of Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), the highest mountain in Wales at 1,085 metres.

The best part? Throughout the trip, staying connected, collaborating with the team, accessing documentation, communicating with clients, and supporting projects was seamless thanks to modern workplace technology.

Meet Stephen, one of our Account Managers.

Stephen works closely with our clients to ensure their IT continues to support their business goals, identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, strengthen security, and maximise the value of their technology investments.

But in July, his focus shifted from technology to family time during a memorable trip to France.

The trip began with a ferry crossing from Dover and a stopover en-route before arriving at their Eurocamp site. From there, it was two weeks of quality family time, exploring new places and making memories together.

Of course, the family couldn't visit France without trying a few local delicacies, including snails for the first time! Safe to say they weren't everyone's favourite, but it had to be done.

One of the highlights of the holiday was a day trip to Disneyland Paris. It was a long day, but seeing the children's excitement made it all worthwhile and created memories the family will talk about for years to come.

Looking back, Stephen's favourite part of the trip was simply spending quality time together as a family and stepping away from the usual routine.

The weather certainly helped too, with plenty of sunshine throughout the holiday.

Now refreshed and back in the office, Stephen is once again helping clients get the most from their technology, building strong relationships and supporting their long term business goals.

With lots of happy memories made, Stephen is already looking forward to the next family adventure.

Sean has just returned from an unforgettable Fathers & Sons trip with his son's ice hockey team to the beautiful town of Český Krumlov in the Czech Republic.

The group spent three nights camping and two days rafting along the stunning Vltava River, creating memories that will last a lifetime. From friendly raft battles and river jumps to teamwork, laughter, and plenty of adventure, it was a weekend packed with fun.

One of the highlights for Sean was seeing the boys put their phones aside and simply enjoy being outdoors. Whether they were splashing each other, floating downstream, or working together to navigate the river, it was a reminder of how valuable these shared experiences can be.

For those unfamiliar with it, Český Krumlov is a breathtaking historic town in South Bohemia, known for its winding river, medieval streets, and impressive castle. As a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it's one of the Czech Republic's most popular destinations and the perfect backdrop for an unforgettable outdoor adventure.

For Sean, this was one of those special weekends that will stay with him forever. Packed with fun, friendship, and unforgettable moments, it's a trip that will no doubt be talked about for many years to come.

It's funny what we used to think counted as "secure"…

Stick a key in a lock and that was it.

In today's world, that same thinking is exactly what causes problems.

If your IT security still feels a bit like this, it's probably worth taking a step back.

Here's where things stand now:
1️⃣ Password habits haven't really changed. Reusing passwords or keeping them simple is common but, it also makes life very easy for attackers. Most breaches start here.

2️⃣ Phishing is more convincing than ever. Fake emails and login pages are designed to look completely genuine. It only takes one moment, and suddenly your login details are compromised.

3️⃣ MFA is no longer optional. That extra step (usually a prompt on your phone) makes a huge difference. Even if a password is stolen, it's often the thing that stops an attack from going any further.

4️⃣ One account can have a big impact. A compromised login isn't just an inconvenience, it can lead to data exposure, internal disruption, and loss of trust.

The basics still matter but they need to be done properly. Strong, unique passwords + MFA switched on!

And this is where a lot of businesses fall short by trying to manage passwords manually. A password manager removes that risk and it securely stores your passwords and generates strong, unique ones for every account, so you're not relying on memory or reusing the same few.

It's a simple change, but it closes off one of the most common entry points attackers use.

Most of the time, it's not a complex issue, it's just a case of tightening up the basics and using the right tools.

"Have you tried turning it off and on again?"

It might be the most stereotypical IT question ever... but honestly, we ask it because it works.

A quick restart can often:
▪️Clear out temporary memory issues
▪️Restart background processes that have got stuck
▪️Finish pending updates
▪️Refresh drivers and services
▪️Get your device back to behaving itself

It's not exactly cutting edge technology advice, but sometimes the simplest fix is the right one.

For businesses, a 2 minute restart can save a lot of time, frustration, and unnecessary troubleshooting. And if the problem keeps coming back, that's usually a sign there's something deeper going on that needs investigating.

The trick isn't just knowing when to restart a device, it's knowing when a recurring issue needs proper attention before it starts affecting productivity.

Sometimes the oldest IT advice is still the best.
