This week's Cloud Of Dust Re-Imagined single is Lying In The Sun, completing Part 1 of the Volume 2 album with all 15 singles now released.

With its slower pace and dreamy trumpets, Lying In The Sun was Andy’s second song inspired by his 1983 holiday romance.

“When I originally created the backing track, it took me straight back to that hot July day and how great I felt,” Andy recalls. “The song wasn’t like anything else I’d produced at that point. The synth brass sound on the Casio MT-70 created a great atmosphere.”

For the Suno re-imagining, it was important to keep the trumpets as the main instrument, but achieving the right result was not without its challenges.

“I had several attempts at getting the sound I was aiming for, but Suno kept struggling with the backing vocals,” explains Andy. “In the end, I settled on a version I liked, separated the vocals in the first few lines, and used the main vocal to repeat as the backing vocals. It was a lot of work, but I think it came out well in the end.”

We’ve just released 6 brand new Premium ‘Ultra’ realistic handwriting fonts!

The new fonts, PremiumUltra182 to PremiumUltra187, are all version 6 fonts, meaning they include the advanced variation features designed to help handwriting look more natural and less repetitive when used with Scriptalizer.

This new release includes a mix of printed and cursive handwriting styles, giving customers even more choice when looking for a realistic handwriting font to suit their project.

All six new Premium ‘Ultra’ fonts support all Latin-based languages, making them suitable for a wide range of European and international language requirements.

The featured font in the image is PremiumUltra187.

We’ve also added a brand new UUNA TEK iAuto compatible font: QEiAuto31, available in both x1 and x3 formats. QEiAuto31 also supports all Latin-based languages.

This week's featured Premium 'Ultra' realistic handwriting font is PremiumUltra70.

PremiumUltra70 has a loose, messy and highly natural style, making it less likely to be recognised as a font and much more likely to be mistaken for real handwriting. Its strong rightward slant gives it energy and movement, while the slightly angular letter strokes and marked variability in letter size help create an authentic handwritten appearance.

For projects where neatness is not the goal, and realism is what matters most, PremiumUltra70 is a great example of how varied and convincing a Premium 'Ultra' handwriting font can be.

This week's Cloud Of Dust Re-Imagined release is Waiting.

Back in 1984, using a home computer to program a musical melody was still cutting edge, but that is exactly what Andy did with his Sinclair ZX Spectrum to create the backing melody for Waiting. Andy recalls, "I showed Steve the melody I had created and he suggested we turn it into a Cloud Of Dust song."

As usual, the original recording was built with whatever was available, including ice cream carton percussion and additional Casio VL-Tone parts. Steve then insisted that Andy should take the lead vocal while he provided a backing monologue. "Steve wanted me to use his improvised lyrics technique, which I knew I wasn't as good at, but I gave it a go." The result was certainly unusual.

For the Suno re-imagining, Andy worked hard to preserve the original ZX Spectrum melody. Although Steve's backing vocal was reduced to a single opening line, the final version became a stand-out Cloud Of Dust track that breaks the rules, but somehow works.

This week's Cloud Of Dust Re-Imagined single release is Living In The Cloud.

Living In The Cloud is one of the few early Cloud Of Dust tracks conceived from the outset as a purely instrumental piece. Andy recalls, "It was always going to be an instrumental and was never intended to be a backing track for Steve to sing to."

As with several recordings from this period, he supplemented the rather thin Casio MT-70 rhythm section with homemade percussion, famously using an upside-down ice cream carton to add extra depth and texture. The track highlights Andy's growing confidence as a keyboard player and his increasing mastery of multi-tracking, despite working with only the most basic equipment.

For the re-imagined version, Suno expanded upon the original arrangement while respecting its melodic foundations. Andy was particularly pleased with the added musical variety, including well-placed key changes and new instrumental flourishes that helped bring the composition to life. The result is a richer, more dynamic interpretation that retains the spirit of the original recording while benefiting from a more polished and professional production.

We've improved and simplified the layout of our handwriting fonts website to make it easier to find the products and services you need.

As part of the update, we've moved away from organising fonts by printer type and now categorise them by their key features:

• Fonts with character variations
• Fonts without character variations
• Signature-only fonts

This new structure brings our handwriting font products and services together in a more consistent way and should make navigation much more intuitive for both new and existing customers.

We're always looking for ways to improve, so we'd love to hear your feedback and suggestions. Let us know what you think of the new layout and whether there are any further improvements you'd like to see.
