Meta Business users - beware this scam: -
We received another absolute quality email scam from purportedly Meta relating to one of our customers' business Facebook/Instagram pages. The email comes in like this:
"We are reaching out regarding important compliance issues identified in your recent advertising activities. After reviewing your account, we have observed several concerns that require immediate action to ensure the integrity of your ads and to avoid potential account restrictions."
Our customer uses this service a lot with their advertising and marketing, so this, on the surface, seems quite legit, and they almost clicked into the prompts. They, as a forethought, asked for our opinion.
A slightly deeper dive, and you can see from the originating email address ([email protected]) that this is clearly nobody associated with Meta, and from the Gmail address and unbusinesslike email name (obscured in this example), there is something amiss.
Clicking the submission button, the following form appears:
