Some of the more difficult areas to tattoo for both of us... Sure some people can make our life that little better by being hard as nails and these are like gold. Alternatively we can offer numbing cream but I feel like we can't do our job if that's what we push.
If someone is in agony it can really mentally drain us.
I especially struggled with these areas the past 2.5 years because of my wrist pains from the motorcycle accident. Especially for stomach and ribs. Angles and stretches were very painful for me. And my back and hip. I kept them to the bare minimum over that period.
I've also included some hand tattoos. Although I love tattooing hands they can be problem areas. Usually by the clients care of them. Or failure to listen to our advice. I know the perfect formula but others can ruin this formula. I never minded as we need to learn every aspect of tattoo to be truly knowledgeable and that includes temporary failure.
I think all of these areas chest, stomach, ribs and hands should be done at the latter stages of your tattoo journey. This way you have learned a great deal and the artist has also learned a lot about you. This will help everyone involved.

A little collection of smaller tattoos i could add 100s more but just used whatever photos came to hand quickest.. there's more information about my skill level in this collection than any other posts. Not just the result but different areas of the body. Massively important and some really dont understand that one area of the body could be 10 times more difficult than the next.
There's a rumour its easier to tattoo big ;-) it can be. Just more time consuming in prep and session. But if someone pays for that time we get on with it.
When I say smaller I don't mean small... truly small would take 10 mins to tattoo... these vary and some took as long as 4 hours not including designing, setting up etc.

Some photos of some of the back tattoos I've done... I've done many many more but totally lost control of my images finally... Haha this is probably not even half of them...
Quite a ridiculous amount of work in 8 years surprised I'm not wadded..... Haha.. I get to work the way I do that's my wadded.....
I'm showing those with variations. Delicate to extreme. Run of the mill to nothing else like it in the world. Backs are no joke to some and some have spent their life never fearing pain.. Some have been still some have been bucking broncos and I ride the s**t of them hahaha love it.

I actually have enough quality photos in so many styles now I could start new artist profiles for each. Then each profile would only have posts that relating to that style. So if anyone stumbles across it they know exactly what that particular artist offers..
Doing it the way I've been doing it for years by not isolating a style within my profile will make people unsure of what I'm about. And those who want a particular style might not notice that I do it.
It would be a guaranteed way of getting more business but would be a nightmare to manage. So I won't.
Was a right to do it this way? Rather than focus on one style? Absolutely. If I was a one trick pony I'd be useless in the end and will have learned little. I've learned as much as there is to learn by doing it this way. While at the same time know I will always have work.
Tattoo styles I have extensive portfolio for.
Trash polka tattoos
Blackwork tattoos
Dark trash tattoo
Oriental tattoos
Traditional tattoos

When I started tattooing.
I needed to work out a suitable way of working in tattoo for me personally.
I walked away from tattoo many years earlier as I knew i wasn't suitable for it. Mainly my obsession addiction and then the human element I'd have to contend with.
I needed to try all working methods and times tattooing to understand what I could mentally take. I already knew clients struggled after 4 hours if not with the pain the restlessness or even boredom...
I figured if we can bust out decent pieces in around the 4 hour mark we will both be happy and no one is getting pushed to unnecessary limits.
I had a limited stencil here but I did draw it out in pencil beforehand to get to know the image. I spent 6 plus hours on this. 6 hours sounds like a good days work. But I had 2/3 hours of driving to do. Was still in 2 hours before even though in Liverpool. So was a 10plus hour day not including designing at home of an evening. Terrible way to work for anyone and no amount of money makes it ok.
