πŸŽ“ WHAT DOES IT TAKE TO CREATE THE WORLD’S FIRST CITY & GUILDS ASSURED HFR TECHNICIAN PROGRAMME?

A lot more than creating a training course.
As pioneers of Human Form Recognition, we wanted our Technician Programme to set a benchmark for the industry, not just in what technicians learn, but in how that learning is structured, delivered and assessed.

That meant putting our programme through the rigorous City & Guilds assurance process and meeting globally recognised standards for learning and assessment. 🌍

βœ… Every element had to stand up to scrutiny.
βœ… The learning content
βœ… The delivery approach
βœ… Practical technical skills
βœ… Assessment and learner outcomes
βœ… The standards required to demonstrate competence

πŸŽ₯ Hear from Cian Stanworth, our Technical Training Manager, on what was involved in developing the programme and achieving City & Guilds assurance.

The result?
A Safety Shield Global Human Form Recognition Technician Programme Assured by City and Guilds designed to develop the skills needed to install, maintain, repair and calibrate HFR systems and give organisations the confidence to build their own internal technical capability.

And demand is already building. πŸ“ˆ
πŸ“… Bookings are now being taken for courses from September.
Spaces are filling fast, so if you’re looking to develop your HFR technicians and build internal capability, now is the time to get in touch.

🚨 A WORLD FIRST FOR HUMAN FORM RECOGNITION

We’re proud to announce the launch of the world’s first Safety Shield Global Human Form Recognition (HFR) Technician Programme assured by City & Guilds.

As the pioneers of Human Form Recognition, we know that successful technology deployment isn’t just about the technology - it’s about having the right people, skills and standards behind it.

🌍 Why does this matter?
City & Guilds assurance means our programme has been developed and assessed against globally recognised standards, helping establish a consistent level of technical competence wherever HFR is deployed.

What does the programme deliver?
Over four days, technicians develop the practical knowledge and skills to:

- Identify the key components needed to install the Safety Shield G4 system
- Complete a full Safety Shield G4 installation, supported by colleagues and the trainer
- Describe the process of registering the installed components with the Safety Shield portal
- Complete an unaided, assessed full installation (machine, camera placement and wiring runs)
- Complete a selection of repairs and maintenance
- Calibrate the machine

But this is about more than training technicians.
πŸ’‘ It enables organisations to build their own internal HFR capability.
That means greater technical expertise, reduced reliance on external resources and the ability to scale HFR deployment across fleets while maintaining consistent installation standards.

πŸ“ˆ Demand for the programme is growing quickly, with places already booking up. We will be taking bookings from September, so if you're looking to develop in-house HFR expertise, now is the time to secure your place.

The pioneers of HFR technology. Now pioneering the skills to deploy it.
Hear from Cian Stanworth, Technical Training Manager, about what this means to us.

Farm safety is about protecting everyone.

The latest HSE figures released during Farm Safety Foundation (Yellow Wellies) highlight two groups who continue to be disproportionately affected by fatal incidents on Britain's farms. Over the past five years, 9 children have lost their lives on farms.

The data also shows that moving or overturning vehicles claimed 8 lives last year, making them the single biggest cause of fatal incidents across the industry.

These figures reinforce why safe interaction between people and machinery must remain a priority.

At Safety Shield, we're committed to helping reduce the risks around moving plant through our Human Form Recognition solution, which detects people around machinery in real time and alerts operators when someone enters a set detection zone.

Technology alone isn't the answer, but when combined with good planning, training and a strong safety culture, it can provide another layer of protection for the people who keep our farms running.

Get in touch with us today to find out how you can help to save lives on site, and explore our agriculture solutions below.

No two worksites are the same, and neither are the risks.

At Safety Shield, we've adapted our technology specifically for the farming industry, helping to tackle some of its biggest risks.

🌾 Our system on woodchippers detects human body parts and shuts down instantly to help prevent life changing injuries.
🚜 We have PTO shaft protection that automatically cuts the power when a person is detected in the danger zone behind a tractor.

Our S.T.R.E.A.M. app supports lone workers by sending notifications of potential incidents for those working in high risk areas such as slurry pits and grain silos.

This Farm Safety Week, we're highlighting how technology can support safer farming practices by addressing the real challenges faced on agricultural worksites. Watch the video below to learn more, and explore our agriculture solutions here:

This week is Farm Safety Foundation (Yellow Wellies) week, which is time dedicated to raising awareness of the risks faced across the agricultural industry and the actions needed to prevent further loss.

The latest figures show that agriculture, and forestry continue to have the highest rate of work related fatal injuries of any major industry in Great Britain. In 2025 and 2026, there were 29 work related fatalities, including 22 workers and 7 members of the public. Tragically, 3 of those members of the public were children, and half of all worker fatalities involved people aged over 65.

Over the past five years, the industry has averaged 28 work related deaths every year. Farming is an essential industry, but many of these risks are known and preventable. Creating safer environments starts with recognising hazards, controlling risks and using our Human Form Recognition solutions to protect the people working around heavy machinery.

Our HFR solution uses advanced, trained AI to detect people around plant and machinery, alerting operators when someone enters a set detection zone. This acts an additional layer of protection where it matters most.

This Farm Safety Week, we stand alongside the farming community in driving the cultural change needed to make safety the priority.

πŸ† We're delighted to announce that Safety Shield has been shortlisted for Innovation of the Year at the National Rail Awards 2026!
This recognition celebrates the success of S.T.R.E.A.M. - our innovative People Plant Interface app, developed in partnership with AmcoGiffen to improve safety around moving machinery.
The S.T.R.E.A.M. app provides real-time alerts to supervisors on the ground to help change behaviours and reduce unsafe interactions between people and plant before an incident occurs.
The results speak for themselves:
βœ… 88% reduction in at-risk behaviours during trials.
βœ… Continued improvements following rollout across all AmcoGiffen projects.

This achievement is a testament to the power of collaboration, innovation, and a shared commitment to making rail infrastructure safer for everyone.
A huge thank you to Chris English and the team at AmcoGiffen for partnering with us to bring this solution to life, and congratulations to everyone shortlisted.

For years, many organisations have gathered huge amounts of operational data, but have often struggled to utilise it to its full potential.

As technology advances and data becomes more accurate, that information is becoming essential to making better business decisions.

In this video, Alex Oakley and Henry Mosley explore the future possibilities of Nexus, and how intelligent data analysis will shape the next generation of workplace safety. Through advanced risk categorisation, it analyses incursions by severity, helping organisations to identify the events that matter most.

Once the AI model has been trained using a client's own data, it can be applied to analyse a wide range of data inputs, creating a more tailored and meaningful understanding of risk across an organisation.

Our VUE team are your central point of contact for any queries related to Nexus, they can walk you through the portal and take you through any demonstrations you may need.
