I have been catching up with some paper work today. And while waiting for a few things to finish, I had a tinker with my own PC. Came across the excellent live wallpaper. I love a zombie movie, it is too early for a Halloween theme?

A customer brought us this desktop pc.which was no longer booting. Tests on the power supply showed that this had failed. This, for the most part could have been avoided. Thee was so much dirt and debris build up, it was not surprising to find this issue. Regular maintenence, even by once or twice a year, could have avoided this.

Evening everyone. For those who are currently with Plusnet and you have a Plusnet free email. You may or may not be aware that they have been slowly migrating accounts away from them and over to greenby.com

Sadly, although emails where sent out by Plusnet to notify people, customers are just finding out now due to their emails no longer working. According to Plusnet, there has been a breakdown in the communications from greenby.com

When the migration has happened, greenby have given you 30 days free use. However there is now a £15 per year charge to retain and continue using the same email address.
I have had 3 customers now face this, with no warning or communication notifying of the changes and how things will work in the future. So something to be aware of.

It does seem other providers are going to be doing this, as there is little to no money to be made in the service. There has already been changes in the past with the likes of Sky, BT and AOL offloading to Yahoo. But more changes are on the horizon.

I will keep people updated as some of the changes happen.

A notice to all our customers.
There is a major outage with Microsoft Outlook at the moment, since just after 9am. Its not looking good at the moment, but the reports are steading out. So hopefully they will be up and running soon.

A pair of controllers came in with the good old issue. So it was a good time to upgrade them both to the far superior hall effect TMR stick controls. When I opened them up, it was clear that it was mire than just the upgrade needed. They where both in a bit if a sorry state from pet hairs. But after a good clean up, removed the old, and soldered in the new. And was able to plug in and calibrate them both. Its back up and running and better than factory. One happy customer.

If you are interested in having this done, I offer it for Xbox, PlayStation and the Nintendo Switch. It could work out cheaper than a new controller and better components.

Something a little different today while out on house calls to customers. I had to catch a pair of in the last couple of days near the workshop, I know it was only a pair after setting up a wildlife camera. It was important as in the past, they have damaged cables which carry data for phones, internet and allsorts. But being a I wanted to catch and release them
So setup a trap and caught them both, gave them food and water in a cage to keep them safe over a couple of days, before taking them over three miles away (as recommended) to a fantastic area I know, where they will not be harmed and tons of space to forage and hide. Actually kind of sad to see them go, but they are better off for it.

Another gaming PC came into us that would not boot and stuck in a loop. Fortunately we got to the bottom of the issue. This came with an old bios, CPU fan was plugged into the wrong socket on the motherboard and the settings wrong to run 4 sticks of ddr5 ram effectivly. Now working nicely.
