Quality parenting fail this mornjng.

Went into school with the youngest Benson, who’s starting sixth form. In a classroom with his whole year 12 tutor group, their parents and the teacher. The teacher is talking about how now they’re in sixth form they have an example to set to the younger ones and that they need to follow the school policy on smart phones and keep them switched off and in bags whilst at school.

Just then… wait for it… you guessed it… my phone rings.

In a panic to silence it, I drop it on the floor while saying ‘sh1t’ a bit too loudly.

Poor Noah looked like he wanted to disown me! 🤦‍♀️😂

I don’t think I’d last long in school these days!

Thursday evenings are for rugby (well, not me playing it obvs!).

Witney RFC is a hive of activity on Thursday evenings. With everything from Touch rugby to Walking Rugby and from Men’s training to Boys Academy (Colts) training.

Plus I get to hang out with some lively friends (while the boys train), enjoying the sunshine and a cold drink.

I love being part of this community. A couple of hours and lots of laughs and the stresses of the working week have melted away.

I’ve been keeping a bit of a secret…

For the last few weeks I’ve been helping former film and TV Special Effects Supervisor Tom Harris from Any Effects launch a brand new experience called Blow The Bloody Doors Off.

On 3rd August we’ll welcome our very first cast members to Tom’s farm near Hay-on-Wye, where they’ll spend the day stepping behind the scenes of movie special effects before recreating one of the most iconic explosions in British cinema.

There will be cameras.

There will be fire.

There will be explosions.

And I genuinely can’t wait.

Now for a little challenge…

Based purely on the name Blow The Bloody Doors Off, does anyone know which famous movie scene we’ll be recreating?

No Googling… 😉

When things go horribly wrong, most people are actually pretty wonderful. ❤️

We saw that first-hand this week.

You might have seen the Los Gallardos wildfire in southern Spain on the news. We were there.

We saw it start on Thursday afternoon as we drove back from a day out, then spent the evening watching the smoke turn into flames from our villa, with our bags packed by the door just in case.

By Friday morning, the wind had changed direction, the alarm sounded and we had to evacuate.

It was scary. But what I’ll remember most isn’t the fire. It’s the people.

The team at Holiday Property Bond were amazing. The Cruz Roja Española were incredible. Volunteers appeared with water, food and support. Local restaurants cooked for complete strangers. Everyone just mucked in and helped.

We were one of the lucky ones. We got home safely on an earlier flight and, sitting back at home now, it all feels a bit surreal.

Sadly, so many others weren’t as fortunate. ❤️ Thinking of everyone who has lost loved ones, homes, pets or livelihoods.

Sometimes the worst situations bring out the very best in people.
