CMC Leaders: Is your data accelerating your filings - or slowing them down?

For many biopharma teams, the pressure to compress timelines from IND to BLA has never been greater. Yet development data still lives in disconnected systems, instruments, and teams - making traceability difficult and tech transfer painful. The result? When it's time to file, teams spend months manually reconstructing development histories that should have been captured from the start.

IDBS Polar and IDBS PIMS are built to solve this.

Together, they form one continuous CMC data thread - from bench to batch - unifying process development, analytical, and manufacturing data. The impact: reduced filing prep time, stronger tech transfer, and regulatory defensibility across the entire CMC lifecycle.

What this means in practice:
🔹Up to 50% reduction in regulatory report preparation time
🔹Faster tech transfer with preserved process context
🔹Fewer deviation investigations and less reconciliation effort
🔹Structured, traceable, AI-ready data from bench to batch

IDBS Polar captures structured development data. IDBS PIMS unifies manufacturing and quality data. Combined, they eliminate silos and maintain complete data lineage across the full CMC lifecycle.

Accelerated filings. Stronger regulatory defensibility. More confident decision-making - without the burden of reconstructing data when it matters most.

If you're looking to modernize your CMC data strategy, this is worth exploring.

i3 2026 is a wrap—and the results speak for themselves.

On May 18 in Boston, BioPharma leaders from across the globe came together at IDBS's flagship customer forum to share real-world outcomes—not roadmaps, not ambitions, but hard-won progress in turning complex workflows, legacy processes and regulatory constraints into systems that actually work.

Highlights from the day:
🔹 Boehringer Ingelheim on automating formulation runs and saving hours per experiment
🔹 Novartis on building an end-to-end GxP platform for regulated bioanalysis—and laying a digital foundation for AI-enabled insights
🔹 Eisai on transforming their ELN from passive record-keeping into an adaptive operational system
🔹 Chugai on bridging the gap between digital strategy and daily lab practice
🔹 Bayer Crop Science on the realities of migrating from on-prem to SaaS
🔹 A panel discussion on scaling AI and data quality in the Life Sciences

The message was clear: structured, contextualized, trusted data isn't a future priority — it's a present-day foundation.

What’re your top priorities for lab data management?

We conducted a survey of professionals across the USA and Europe to learn more about their usage and experiences with scientific lab data platforms, including LIMS, LES and ELNs.

🌟Enhancing data quality and integrity was the top goal for 32% of respondents, with improving research efficiency coming in second at 25%.

Do you agree? What are your priorities for the rest of the year? Let us know in the comments!

We’re proud to be sponsoring Venture Road UK, a collaboration between Ventures Accelerated Life Science and Phosworks, taking place 7-11 June 2026 across London, Cambridge and Oxford.

Venture Road UK builds on the Sweden UK Memorandum of Understanding, reflecting a shared ambition to strengthen collaboration in life sciences and accelerate progress in precision health. The event brings together investors, companies and institutions to discuss how data, , translational research, clinical innovation, and antimicrobial resistance (AMR) are shaping the future of personalized care.

The IDBS team (Unjulie Bhanot, Sumeet Chawla, Jamie Bellamy, Marc Smith, Stuart Ward, Leonard Sim) will be in attendance across the event and are looking forward to sharing insights into how life sciences organizations can scale AI initiatives with confidence while meeting regulatory expectations. You’ve done the hard work – the sample has been analyzed and the experiment is complete – but your data is in chaos.

🔗In upstream development, maintaining links between cultures is critical not only for regulatory compliance but to gain valuable, actionable insights.

IDBS Polar Inventory brings experiment data together into one single connected record, ensuring complete, transparent and audit-ready traceability from start to finish. You can quickly and easily see the full genealogy of each culture, including:
🔹Where it was used
🔹Every sample created from it
🔹Any associated bioreactors
🔹It’s downstream use.

On‑demand webinar: Sustaining process integrity across the CMC lifecycle

As biopharmaceutical products move from development into scale‑up and manufacturing, CMC teams face a consistent challenge: keeping process knowledge intact as data, systems and decisions fragment across stages, sites and functions.

This on‑demand webinar explores how a process‑centric CMC approach helps organizations preserve context, maintain traceability and reduce risk across the entire lifecycle — from early development through GMP manufacturing.

In the session, we look at:
🔹Why disconnected systems erode CMC knowledge during scale‑up and tech transfer
🔹How capturing data in process context supports confident decision‑making and inspection readiness
🔹What “process integrity” really means in practice across development, transfer and manufacturing

With real examples and live demonstrations, the webinar shows how CMC teams can move beyond storing data to telling the full, defensible story of the process — what happened, when, why, and under which conditions.

In BioPharma, agility isn’t about moving faster. It’s about staying in control when the ground shifts.

Tight timelines, rising costs and increasing regulatory pressure mean cloud migration is no longer just an IT decision—it’s an operating‑model decision.

The shift is already underway. Most organizations have accelerated cloud adoption not just to modernize infrastructure, but to reduce downtime, scale on demand and adapt without waiting on hardware or long change cycles.

In our latest blog, we explore:
✅ Why cloud migration is a cornerstone of business agility; not just an IT upgrade
✅ How hybrid and multi‑cloud strategies help balance flexibility, resilience and governance
✅ Why governance is critical to scaling agility safely in regulated environments

What’s the biggest agility blocker you’re seeing in practice today: infrastructure, governance, or operating model?

AI is dominating the conversation in life sciences right now, but at i3, our panel reminded us to look beyond the hype.

There’s still a clear gap between how confidently we talk about AI, and where most organizations really are on their journey.

Thanks to Bryan Marsh (AWS), Stephen Gelling (Boehringer Ingelheim), Swetabh Pathak (Elucidata) and Jennifer Omigie (IDBS) for a grounded, practical discussion.

The strongest themes weren’t about AI itself — they were about the foundations that make it work:
🔹Data quality
🔹Data governance
🔹Change management

Without these, even the best AI initiatives struggle to deliver value.

The audience discussion brought it to life:
🔹How do you make data truly AI-ready?
🔹How do you apply governance without slowing science?
🔹How do you build trust and consistency at scale?

These aren’t future challenge, they’re happening now.

Takeaway: AI success in life sciences will depend less on the technology, and more on the strength of data foundations and the ability to drive real organizational change.
