Is your Windows 11 still getting security updates?

Microsoft's own support page lists Windows 11 version 24H2 (Home and Pro) as ending on 14 October 2026. Once a version is out of support it no longer gets security updates, so a PC still on 24H2 needs to move up. Versions 25H2, 26H1 and 26H2 are still supported.

To see which version you have: Settings, then System, then About, and look for "Version". If it says 24H2, run Windows Update and install the newest version.

Is your PC running slow? Try these before you spend anything:

1. Restart it. A surprising number of problems clear.
2. Check what starts with Windows and turn off what you do not need.
3. Check your drive is not nearly full.
4. Still have an old spinning hard drive (an HDD)? It is a common reason an older PC feels slow, and an SSD is much faster. Not sure which you have? Ask us.

Still slow? Ring us on 01905 673738. We will tell you honestly what is wrong, and if we cannot fix it, you do not pay.

Free quick clean: recommend a friend and you both get one.

Get your free one-time code on our website, then send your friend your code. When they sign up and bring their computer in, they get a free quick clean, no purchase needed, and so do you. You also get one free with any paid job in our workshop. A quick clean is normally £25.

What you get: we clean the case, filters, heatsinks and fans, check the fans still work, and take out the cards and clean them and underneath them. We take before and after photos and can email them to you, we report any problems we find, and your job is fully traceable so you are kept informed all the way through. It does not matter how dirty your computer is, we are happy to do it. It must be in working order when it arrives.

Extra: have your CPU thermal paste renewed at the same time for just £15 (normally £20 on top of a clean). Desktops only; tick the box when you get your code.

Get your code: https://sandboxcomputers.com/free-quick-clean-worcester/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_content=SBX-261023-01

Each code lasts 14 days, there is one per customer, and free friend places are limited each week. The offer ends on 30 November 2026. Our workshop is busy, so drop-offs and collections are booked in advance: ring first on 01905 673738.

A serious flaw in PHP is in the news. Here is what it means.

PHP is the programming language behind a huge number of websites, including WordPress. This week the PHP project announced two critical flaws that could let an attacker run their own code on a website without needing a password. It has released fixed versions.

Because of it, many organisations took websites offline as a precaution while they updated, including government sites across Europe and, in the UK, some BBC web portals and councils such as Edinburgh.

If you have a website:
- Ask whoever looks after it (your web host or developer) to confirm it is on a fixed PHP version: 8.5.12, 8.4.27, 8.3.36, 8.2.35 or newer.
- PHP 8.1 and older no longer get updates from the PHP project, so a site on one of those needs its host to confirm it has been protected another way.

This one is for whoever runs a website. It is not something to fix on your own computer.

Our own shop website is already on a fixed version.

Questions? Message us or ring 01905 673738. Please ring first, as visits are by appointment.
