The Earth Observation Research and Innovation Centre, EORIC, is a research centre at the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR) responsible for the acquisition of near real time satellite-based data, air-borne and in situ data, metadata and products; automatic weather monitoring; operations and management of unmanned aerial systems, virtual regional fire monitoring and modelling, organi

zation of training programmes in the use of earth observation (EO) and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) techniques. These are aimed towards making informed decisions in the areas of water, disasters, health, energy, climate, agriculture, ecosystems and biodiversity. The Centre is comprised of six divisions, namely; the Satellite, Weather and Climate division, the High Performance Computing division, the Virtual Environment Laboratory, Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) division, and the Climate Informatics division.

Exactly one year ago today, a vision became a reality. The first 25 trainees began a remarkable journey at the EORIC-UENR SATCOM Training Hub.

What started as a vision has grown into a platform for knowledge, skills development, and transformation in satellite communications.
