💻 Year of MacBooks: Apple prepares four new notebooks for 2026
Apple is likely to release one of the most significant MacBook portfolio changes in years in 2026, spanning everything from the most cheap sector to high-end professional notebooks.
The first of these should be a new entry-level MacBook that positioned below the MacBook Air. It should be powered by the A18 Pro chip, which is also utilised in the iPhone 16 Pro and provides adequate performance for daily tasks like as studying, browsing, light work, and media consumption. The device should have a 13-inch LCD screen, an ultra-thin design, and solely USB-C connectors (no Thunderbolt). The anticipated price ranges from $699 to $899, making it the cheapest MacBook in the portfolio.
Following that, Apple should upgrade the MacBook Air, which will now use the M5 chip. Expected performance benefits of up to 15%, as well as improved energy efficiency and battery life. The design should remain basically unchanged, with 13- and 15-inch models. The starting price should stay around US$999, making the Air the primary option for most consumers.
The MacBook Pro range will also be updated with the M5 Pro and M5 Max processors, aimed at business customers. Internal enhancements to the 14- and 16-inch models are expected, including more bandwidth, faster SSDs, and improved graphics performance. Estimated prices range from $1,999 for the 14" MacBook Pro with M5 Pro to $3,499 for the 16" model with M5 Max.
Finally, Apple's roadmap for the end of 2026 should include a new MacBook Pro with an OLED touchscreen. Thanks to the OLED panel, this model should have an even thinner design, less bezels, better contrast, and greater brightness. The M6 chip is expected to debut at the front of the queue, with costs potentially exceeding US$3,500 depending on configuration.
If confirmed, these releases position 2026 as a decisive year for MacBooks, with options ranging from the basic user to the extreme professional.
